Job description

Job Title: Development Coordinator

Reports to: Deputy Director

Effective Date: June 1, 2026

Location: Virtual workplace. Must be based in U.S. East Coast. High preference for Washington, DC area.

Hours/Duration: Part-time (15-20 hours/week) / Temporary (anticipated to be 6-8 months) with possiblity for extension if funding is available/raised

Hourly rate: $25-30/hour

Job Summary:

The Development Coordinator will support the fundraising team by maintaining key information and records in our CRM; assist with events and logistics; support communications relate to reports, proposal and social media; and provide key administrative support to help the team stay on track.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Donor Management: Learn and enhance fundraising best practices by supporting fundraising team in creating donor strategies. Record donations, maintain records in systems (CRM software and online digital files), enter tasks in CRM and generate acknowledgement letters.
  • Event & Campaign Coordination: Assist with the planning, logistics, and execution of fundraising and program events (in-person and online); create event surveys; assist in creating fundraising materials, such as brochures, online invitations and presentations.
  • Communications: Assist with fundraising proposals and reports; draft social media posts or outreach materials. Organize and manage communications calendar to ensure we are posting and sharing for important dates and news moments.
  • Administrative Support: Organize and attend meetings, record and track action items from meetings, support team members, and maintain digital files and records. Track grants and proposals calendar.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong communication (verbal/written), organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to meet deadlines, and proficiency in donor databases.
  • Ability to be self-directed and work independently in a virtual work environment
  • Detail-oriented mindset with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and fundraising databases
  • Familiarity with fundraising techniques and donor relationship management
  • Passion for non-profit work and a commitment to the organization's mission

Education and Experience:

  • Experience: Often requires 2-3 years in a nonprofit development, fundraising, or administrative role.
  • Education: A bachelor's degree or relevant life or work experience in communications, marketing, or a related field is preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
