Job description

Lead the development of infrastructure technology that powers automation across Amazon's fulfillment operations globally. In this role, you'll manage teams building edge and cloud services that enable seamless integration and coordination of robotics and smart devices at scale, solving complex challenges in robotic systems coordination and infrastructure resilience.
As a Software Development Manager on the Workcell Infrastructure Services team in Boston, you'll oversee the development of critical systems that control and operate robotic equipment across our facilities. Your day involves partnering with engineering teams to design and implement solutions for edge networking, cloud configuration services, and hardware integration

You'll participate in technical discussions about system architecture, review code and design selections with your team, and work cross-functionally with other technical groups to ensure our services meet the needs of teams building flexible and resilient robotic systems. You'll also spend time mentoring engineers, identifying growth opportunities, and fostering an environment where your team can do their best work.
We are a partnership focused group of engineers and technical guides passionate about applying advances in robotics and software to solve real-world problems. Our team builds the foundational technology that allows Amazon to quickly and efficiently integrate, control, and operate all types of robotics and machine automation equipment

We work across multiple technical domains-from arm-based hardware images to edge networking solutions to cloud services-and we partner closely with teams throughout Amazon who depend on our infrastructure. We're focused on creating systems that are flexible, resilient, and safe. You'll interact with colleagues across multiple technical domains and work alongside product and program management teams who depend on the infrastructure we build.
Key job responsibilities
- Lead and develop a team of software engineers, providing mentorship, coaching, and growth opportunities to help them advance their technical skills and impact
- Partner with product and program management teams to understand requirements and translate them into technical strategies and roadmaps
- Oversee the design, development, and deployment of multi-tier web services and edge solutions that support robotic workcell operations
- Establish and maintain engineering practices and standards across your team, including code reviews, testing, certification processes, and operational excellence
- Communicate technical designs, product features, and strategic direction to stakeholders across engineering, product, and senior leadership
