Job description

The Position 
The Director, Software Development, Geoscience is accountable for efficient software development processes in the domains of Evo enabled Geophysics, Geostatistics and Geology (Driver) to deliver high-quality, high-performing, and reliable solutions on time, tailored to the market.  This role contributes to the strategic planning and execution of Seequent products, serving the Civil, Energy, Environmental, and Mining sectors.  Accountability includes overseeing the strategic and successful transition of desktop products to hybrid solutions, leveraging cloud services to benefit our users. This position also involves leading software teams, ensuring the development processes are fit for purpose in an ever-changing technological environment, and facilitating collaboration with other cross-functional teams at Seequent. 
In this role, you will have the opportunity to: 
Take ownership of the delivery and execution of mid- and long-term projects.
Drive a clear understanding of the vision and strategy, ensuring alignment with industry and domain requirements.
Oversee development teams, collaborating with Product Managers and Designers to ensure successful outcomes.
Lead the implementation, measurement, and continuous improvement of empowered product teams.
Contribute to the architectural direction of products, incorporating deeper integration with cloud-based capabilities.
Lead systematic avoidance and removal of technical debt.
Contribute to the successful utilization of generative AI productivity tools across all technology functions.
Ensure that interdependencies between products are clearly identified and proactively managed.
Guarantee all software releases adhere to established processes and are delivered on time with high quality.
Assess and address security risks for both deployed and in-development software.
Provide strategic and technical guidance on key decisions related to software product development.
Guide, coach, and mentor both management and professional team members through performance and career development.
Champion a culture of innovation and inspiration to foster a highly engaged and motivated team.
Act as a strategic partner to executive members, providing valuable consulting support.
To be successful in this role, you should have: 
Minimum 10 years of experience in Software Development leadership roles. 
Tertiary level qualification in Software Development or related scientific disciplines. 
Ability to translate and develop functional strategy into actionable plans, setting objectives, and driving short-term to long-term results. 
Proven experience in resolving multifaceted challenges through logical analysis, while owning systems and processes that improve functional effectiveness and policy execution. 
Ability to provide consultation and influence on communication strategy plans and vision across internal teams and senior external stakeholders.
The ability to support and foster a strong culture of trust, collaboration, and accountability. 
Ability to advance knowledge and experience in best-in-class business models, products, and technologies that drive relevant disciplines on optimal operational decisions and performance. 
Additional Information
This is a hybrid role and is required to be in the Seequent office 2 days a week. Tier 3, after hours support may be required on occasion. Seequent is a global company, and flexibility in working hours may be required to accommodate work across different time zones. 
This role is responsible for leading a team of professionals, managers, and/or senior managers.  This may include, not limited to, Leads, Principals, Managers, Senior Managers, and Directors. 
The role will also require working closely with cross-functional teams to guide and influence development outcomes.
