Trees Atlanta is a nationally recognized non-profit community group that protects and improves Atlanta's urban forest by planting, conserving, and educating. Founded in 1985, Trees Atlanta works tirelessly to address Atlanta's tree loss, protect its forests, and create new greenspace. Empowered by its wonderful community of volunteers, Trees Atlanta serves the metro Atlanta area and has grown into one of Atlanta's most widely known and supported nonprofit organizations.
Job Description
Trees Atlanta is looking for an enthusiastic, committed individual who is excited to join a hard-working, mission-driven team as the Marketing & Development Coordinator. This role will promote Trees Atlanta's programs and events and support important marketing initiatives focused on fundraising and development, including supporting fundraising events, updating donor information, and entering data. You will report to the Marketing Manager and work closely with the Development team.
You will have the opportunity to:
  • Help create short- and long-term marketing and development plans, including media, promotions, and appeal schedules, with the Marketing and Development teams.
  • Publish education and community events to Trees Atlanta's online calendar and external event calendars (such as Facebook Events and local digital outlets). Produce coordinated promotional images and compelling event descriptions.
  • Collect and organize Trees Atlanta's volunteer- and staff-generated photographs in our DAM (digital asset management) system.
  • Create Mailchimp emails for donor appeals, including developing targeted mailing lists from donor data.
  • Support seasonal fundraising campaigns: fulfill Holiday card orders; and support Root Ball ticketing, collect guest information, and answer guest inquiries. Root Ball is our major fundraising gala.
  • Manage Root Ball silent auction listings; coordinate item pickup and fulfillment; prepare auction displays; and acknowledge donations.
  • Send weekly donor communications, including acknowledgement statements, thank you cards, and tribute gift notifications.
  • Update donor information in Salesforce, clean data for mailing lists, and report campaign results.

What you need:
  • Commitment to Trees Atlanta's mission and programs and the ability to present our work in an engaging and interesting way to various audiences.
  • Proficiency using software and tools for content creation, such as MailChimp, Canva, and other equivalent and related tools.
  • Experience with CRM and Excel is a plus.
  • Collaborating with Google productivity tools, including Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Sheets, Google Meet, etc.
  • Excellent writing and proofreading skills.
  • Collaborative and efficient work style, with the flexibility to balance competing priorities across Marketing and Development.
  • High ethical standards, confidentiality, and strong attention to detail and accuracy, particularly when working with donor data and records.
  • A valid driver's license and willingness to drive for occasional auction item pickups and deliveries is a plus.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs of event and campaign materials (e.g., card boxes, auction items) as needed.
  • Experience in development, marketing, administrative, or nonprofit support roles, or a degree in a related field of expertise.
