Responsibilities of the Shop Supervisor include, but are not limited to:
  • Plans and directs the work of the Service Coordinator and the shop Mechanics placing particular emphasis on the successful completion of fabrication projects, repair and field service jobs.
  • Organizes shop to accomplish operational goals and advises Service Manager on staff requirements.
  • Monitors progress of projects and confers with the Service Manager to insure that projects are progressing according to schedule and within budget, placing particular emphasis on the efficient use of man-hours.
  • Monitors Service Department to ensure efficient use of manpower and compliance with customers' requirements.
  • Works with the Safety Coordinator to ensure that the shop operates according to Company Safety policies, both in the shop and in the field.
  • Works closely with the Service Manager and VP Operations to develop and accomplish long-range operating and service sales growth goals.
  • Be On-time, Safe, and Courteous to customers.
  • Perform repairs on centrifugal, gear, diaphragm, reciprocating, and progressive cavity pumps as well as other related rotating equipment, motors, and engines in the shop and/or in the field.
  • Troubleshoot rotating equipment problems.
  • Perform functional testing on completed repairs.
  • Fabricate and assemble custom equipment skids and packages.
  • Perform field startup of various equipment and controls including programming various VFD drives and PLC controls (Depending on experience and skills).

Qualifications of the Shop Supervisor include, but are not limited to:
  • Extensive experience in pump services, mechanical and electrical equipment assembly and repair
  • Employee management experience.
  • Ability to motivate team and accomplish goals.
  • Experience with repair and troubleshooting of pumps and rotating equipment.
  • Experience with mechanical seals and rotating equipment alignment.
  • Experience with repair and troubleshooting of diesel engines and large electric motors.
  • Prefer some fabrication, pipe fitting, and/or welding experience.
  • Safety Awareness is a MUST! Ability to safely evaluate a job and then execute a well thought out plan is required!
  • Ability to read and understand O&M and Service Manuals.
  • Organized and able to keep a clean work environment.
  • Able to lift and maneuver up to 50 lbs. and to safely use lifting equipment for heavier components.
  • Team player who works well with others and can follow instructions without close supervision.
  • Must have valid driver's license, acceptable driving record, able to pass background checks and drug tests.
  • Experience with control panel startup and troubleshooting.
