The Sales Director is an individual seller responsible for prospecting and closing sales in GumGum's Market Leading Advertising platform. Reporting to the Group Sales Director for the Northeast, this role is responsible for leading and developing key relationships in the allocated region to drive real value for our clients through GumGum products.
Sales Directors have a deep knowledge of the online media landscape, the advertising community and have more than 5 years of proven media sales experience. The Sales Director is self motivated, can work with internal teams and is committed to achieving and exceeding sales goals while growing GumGum's products in their allocated region.
Note: GumGum fosters a flexible work environment, offering GumGummers the ability to work remotely/from home. However, for occasional in-person collaboration and client engagement, we kindly ask that this position be located within a 'commutable' distance to downtown Boston.
What You'll Achieve
  • Drive Regional Revenue: Own and grow a dedicated book of business by driving new revenue from brands and agencies across the Greater Boston region.
  • Prospect & Hunt New Business: Generate a high volume of sales activity, including cold calling, tailored presentations, and creative out-of-the-box RFPs.
  • Convert Marketing Leads: Successfully identify, qualify, and close inbound opportunities generated from marketing channels.
  • Nurture & Upsell Clients: Leverage market insights to expand current accounts and upsell clients on new and existing products.
  • Build Strategic Relationships: Cultivate deep connections with key brand and agency contacts to understand their goals and deliver tailored advertising solutions.
  • Collaborate Internally: Partner closely with Account Managers and cross-functional teams to ensure seamless campaign execution that aligns with client expectations.
  • Influence Product Strategy: Translate real-world client feedback into actionable insights for our internal Product team to improve our offerings.
  • Execute Strategic Sales: Develop and manage high-level, strategic sales opportunities from inception to close.

Skills You'll Bring
  • Industry Sales Experience: Ideally 5+ years of digital advertising sales experience (publisher or ad tech preferred) with a proven track record of hitting or exceeding targets.
  • Established Network: A strong, active list of brand and agency contacts within the Greater Boston region.
  • Book of Business Management: Proven experience managing an annual book of business valued at $5.5MM+.
  • Ad Tech Literacy: Programmatic experience and established relationships with IPG agencies are highly preferred.
  • CRM & Tech Proficiency: Proficient in Salesforce (logging activity, pulling reports) and mastery of MS Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word).
  • Strategic Relationship Builder: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with a knack for building trust and solving complex stakeholder problems quickly.
  • Business Acumen: A fundamental understanding of P&L, revenue drivers, and data-driven problem solving.
  • Proactive Market Research: Regularly utilizes tools like Seller Crowd and monitors industry trades to stay ahead of account updates and market trends.

The reasonable estimated base pay range for this role is from $131,000 - $156,000 annually. The actual amount may be higher or lower. Individual compensation will vary based on factors including, but not limited to, relevant qualifications, work location, and labor market conditions.
