Position Overview

The Global Sales Director is responsible for leading the global sales organization across the GOLDEN Branded Division and GOLDEN Paintworks Division. Reporting directly to the VP of Sales & Marketing, this position provides strategic leadership and oversight for direct sales personnel, independent sales agencies, distributors, OEM and private label business channels, strategic customer relationships, the Pricing Control Manager, and commercial support functions worldwide.

As the senior sales leader within the organization, the Global Sales Director serves as the primary voice of the sales organization on the Senior Leadership Team, representing customer, channel, market, and sales team perspectives in strategic planning and business decision-making. The role is responsible for providing regular business updates, sales forecasting, revenue projections, market intelligence, competitive insights, growth opportunities, and risk assessments to support executive decision-making and long-term business planning.

The Global Sales Director develops and executes global sales strategies that drive sustainable revenue growth, profitability, market expansion, customer retention, and channel effectiveness. This role strengthens key customer and distribution partnerships and collaborates closely with Marketing, Operations, Product Development, Customer Service, and Finance to align commercial priorities and achieve corporate objectives.

We are looking for a thoughtful, data-driven leader who can quickly understand the business, challenge the status quo, and translate insights into measurable results. The ideal candidate brings both strategic vision and operational rigor, with the ability to lead through influence, build trust across stakeholders, and elevate team performance globally.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and lead the global commercial sales strategy across branded, OEM and private label to achieve revenue growth, profitability, market share expansion, and long-term business objectives. Establish annual and multi-year sales plans, channel strategies, customer growth initiatives, and performance targets aligned with company goals.
Leadership & Organizational Development
  • Direct and lead the global sales organization, including sales managers, direct sales representatives, independent sales agencies, distributors, the Pricing Control Manager, and commercial support personnel. Establish performance expectations, drive accountability, recruit and develop talent, and build a high-performing sales culture through coaching, succession planning, employee engagement, and organizational development. Regularly evaluate the effectiveness and performance of sales managers, agencies, distributors, and channel partners to ensure alignment with company objectives and growth targets.
  • Maintain accountability for global sales revenue, margin performance, forecasting accuracy, budget creation and management, development of annual operating plans and rolling sales forecasts. Analyze market trends, sales results, and financial metrics to identify opportunities and risks and implement corrective actions when required. Provide accurate forecasts, sales reporting, revenue projections, and business updates to support financial planning, resource allocation, and executive decision-making.
  • Lead strategic relationships with major retailers, distributors, OEM and private label partners, and top revenue-generating customers. Participate in executive-level negotiations and develop long-term account growth strategies that increase sales, market penetration, customer satisfaction, and retention.
Market Expansion & Business Development
  • Identify and evaluate new domestic and international growth opportunities, distribution partnerships, OEM relationships, private label opportunities, emerging markets, and strategic channels. Develop business plans and commercial strategies that support market expansion, market share growth, and new revenue streams.
Cross-Functional Commercial Leadership
  • Serve as the sales organization's representative on the Senior Leadership Team, providing sales performance reporting, forecasts, market intelligence, customer insights, competitive analysis, business risks, growth opportunities, and strategic recommendations to support executive decision-making. Lead collaborative planning efforts with Marketing, Finance, Operations, Product Development, and Customer Service to ensure successful execution of commercial initiatives, product launches, promotional programs, customer strategies, and industry events.
Sales Excellence & Field Effectiveness
  • Maintain a strong presence in the marketplace through regular engagement with customers, distributors, sales teams, and industry partners. While in the field assess sales execution, identify growth opportunities, strengthen key relationships, and provide coaching that improves sales effectiveness and customer experience. Gather and communicate market feedback to influence business strategy, product development, and commercial initiatives, while representing GOLDEN at key customer and industry events.
  • Guide market analysis efforts related to competitive products, pricing, distribution models, customer trends, and industry developments. Partner with internal stakeholders to develop pricing strategies and market positioning that strengthen GOLDEN's competitive advantage and support profitable business growth.
Sales Operations & Process Improvement
  • Own Sustainable Marketing Initiative (SMI), sales policies, performance standards, reporting processes and operational performance. Ensure consistency, compliance, reporting accuracy, and continuous improvement across all sales operations while supporting data-driven decision-making throughout the organization.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Sales, Marketing, Business, or related field
  • 5-7+ years of progressive experience in sales leadership, account management, or regional sales roles
  • Proven success leading teams and driving revenue growth across multiple markets or regions
  • Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving capabilities
  • Demonstrated ability to assess complex environments, develop actionable strategies, and execute with discipline
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and influencing skills
  • Experience managing direct and independent sales teams or agencies
  • Ability to balance strategic planning with hands-on execution
