Job description

Ashland, VA -The Parts Correspondent is a full-time, hourly position. Hours worked are 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday - Friday, with one hour for lunch, unless the Parts Manager determines that business needs warrant a different work schedule.
Primary Responsibilities of the Parts Correspondent
  • Handle the day-to-day procedures associated with ordering and processing material handling equipment parts orders.
  • Find opportunities for increased sales and profit margin

Skills and Personal Characteristics of the Parts Correspondent
  • Material Handling equipment parts experience in auto, trucking, heavy equipment or forklift
  • Excellent communication skills to interact in a positive manner with all customers (internal and external)
  • Strong problem solving/analytical skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to operate computer software and web based portals.
  • To be cognizant of profits and margins as they pertain to parts sales.

Main Tasks of the Parts Correspondent
  • Telephone and personal interaction with internal and external customers and vendors.
  • Daily tracking reports and backorder follow-up.
  • Processing orders on a daily basis to fill all customer needs.
  • Researching and sourcing correct parts for internal and external customers
  • Manage and assist external and internal customers with process disruptions, such as parts on back order, parts shipped incorrectly.
  • Receive inventory and branch transfers into ERP as needed.
  • Assisting with various inter-departmental issues as they arise.
  • Processing customer orders by phone, fax, or email.
