JOB SUMMARY:
TheUniversal Banker is responsible for providing all teller-based transactions and new account functions as well as cross-selling bank products/services to new and existing customers. Must maintain and acquire knowledge of complete line of products/services offered at the bank. Provides prompt, efficient, and friendly service to customers and follows the established policies and procedures for this area, in accordance with the Bank and the supervisor's direction.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Processes transactions within established policies and procedures to ensure operational excellence.
  • Ensures all audit and security policies and procedures are followed in accordance with Bank policy and Federal regulations.
  • Explain various services available and assist customers in selecting these services. Open appropriate account(s) by uncovering specific needs.
  • Performs servicing duties: greets and direct customers as they enter bank, researches customer inquiries, orders checks and/or debit cards, returns phone calls, helps customer's balance their accounts, accepts and forwards wires, and maintains working knowledge of products/services for cross-selling.
  • Explains bank services and charges to customers.
  • Perform a variety of other tasks, such as filing, copying, and opening and distributing mail.
  • Open or close safety deposit boxes; assist with inventory of deceased customers' boxes.
  • Observes suspicious behavior and reports any such activity to management as appropriate. In the event of a robbery, remains calm and follows bank procedures to safeguard customers and staff.
  • Provide notary public service (if needed).
  • Maintain confidentiality of customer accounts and information.
  • Performs other tasks as requested by management as they relate to the bank and its functions.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or equivalency.
  • At least 1 year customer service and cross-selling experience;
  • At least 1 year of teller or cash-handling experience;
  • Ability to enter numerical data on computer with speed and accuracy.
  • Good mathematical aptitude to facilitate daily balancing.
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills and work well with others.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize.
