Job Summary:

As a Route Salesman, one is responsible for managing an established delivery route, ensuring timely distribution of products, maintaining strong customer relationships, and driving sales growth. This role involves delivering goods, restocking inventory, promoting new products, and ensuring customer satisfaction. The Route Salesman also handles payments, maintains accurate records, and identifies opportunities to increase sales within their territory.

Key Responsibilities:

Salesman

  • Must follow all state and federal motor vehicle traffic laws
  • Must take good care of portable handheld, printer and hand truck issued by EM,
  • Check route salesmen room board for current week customer PO'S and notices
  • While working in store keep all products and hand truck in an organized manner and out- of customer's way for safety purposes.
  • Place and receive product orders for assigned route customers
  • Answer questions from store customers regarding EM products as necessary
  • Keep all empty pallets in truck in an organized and safe way
  • Return all stalled (credits) products for end-of-day inventory purposes
  • Tortilla display set; rotate and place new products on shelves as taught repairs due to abuse or carelessness will be done at your expense Monitor and report equipment, used on route condition,
  • Must account for all product received at start of day and any stales pulled from stores when doing end of day settlement.
  • Leave truck fueled, empty and clean at the end of the day. Leave truck fueled, empty and clean at the end of each day
  • Set display, rotate and place new product on shelves as taught
  • Introducing and selling any new products to customers
  • Must call on scheduled customers to sell and stock customer's shelves
  • Sell adequate product quantities to each established customer on route
  • Increase sales within current customers and any new acquired accounts

DATA REPORTING AND PAYMENTS

  • Issue correct invoices by customer (store), all credit customer invoices must have a store stamp and signature
  • Must collect payment for all cash sales when servicing customers at every visit
  • Must turn in all invoices (including voids) created during route
  • Must zero out on all sales and inventory daily (No open balances allowed)

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Valid driver’s license C Required
  • Previous experience in route sales, delivery, or customer service preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
  • Bilingual: English and Spanish Fluent
  • High school diploma or equivalent (required)
  • Basic math, reading, writing and record-keeping abilities

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Must work with route helper (when available) on a 50/50 basis for all physical work required
  • Job requires frequent heavy lifting up to 50 lbs regularly
  • Frequent bending, lifting, stretching and walking 
  • Ability to drive for extended periods

Working Conditions:

  • Combination of driving and outdoor/warehouse environments
  • Exposure to varying weather conditions

 

Compensation:

  • Pay: Base salary (Once route is assigned the pay would be base plus commission) 
  • Benefits package including: El Milagro pays 70% Medical premium, Dental and Vision

Schedule:

  • Work 5-6 days a week including weekends. Day(s) off during the week.
  • Early mornings, weekends, or extended hours are required
  • Start time can be as early as 2:30am
