Job description

Position Summary

The Purchasing Expeditor is responsible for supporting the timely delivery of purchased materials required to meet production schedules. Working closely with Buyers, Material Managers, Planning, Warehouse Operations, Logistics, Project Management and Suppliers, this role monitors open purchase orders, expedites critical material, communicates delivery commitments, and helps resolve shortages that could impact manufacturing.

The Purchasing Expeditor maintains accurate delivery information within Oracle and related systems while building effective relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders to improve material availability and production execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor open Purchase Orders and follow up with suppliers to confirm delivery commitments and expedite critical material.
  • Collaborate with Material Managers, Buyers and Sourcing Leads to prioritize and expedite critical parts supporting production requirements.
  • Work with Operations Project Managers, Logistics, Warehouse Managers and Production Planning to identify and resolve material shortages.
  • Review supplier commitments and communicate schedule changes that may impact production or customer deliveries.
  • Assist with receipt reviews, inventory verification and material counts when supporting critical shortages or production recovery activities.
  • Develop working knowledge of Material Requirements Planning (MRP) principles, including minimum order quantities, lead times and inventory levels.
  • Support Planning and Buyers by reviewing supply and demand information to assist with material availability.
  • Develop an understanding of material shortage escalation processes, engaging supplier and Vertiv leadership when required.
  • Build strong working relationships with suppliers to improve communication and expedite deliveries.
  • Maintain accurate supplier promise dates and delivery information within Oracle and supporting business systems.
  • Prepare daily and weekly reports highlighting critical shortages, supplier commitments and expediting activities.
  • Participate in supplier meetings and internal shortage reviews to support production recovery and customer commitments.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives that improve material flow, supplier performance and planning accuracy.
  • Learn and utilize Oracle EBS (Alice), Oracle PLM/PD Cloud and E2Open to support purchasing and order management activities.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 4-5 years of experience in Materials, Purchasing, Supply Chain, Planning, Logistics or Manufacturing Operations.
  • Experience expediting purchase orders and working directly with suppliers.
  • Good understanding of manufacturing and warehouse operations.
  • Basic knowledge of MRP principles and inventory management.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple activities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience with ERP systems; Oracle EBS experience is preferred.
  • Willingness to learn Oracle PLM/PD Cloud and E2Open applications.
