Job description

Title: Program Change Order Expeditor
Location: San Diego, CA
Duration: 06 months (Contract) - 1st Shift
Job description:
  • A Program Change Order Expeditor (Value Stream Specialist) is responsible for preventing backlog and expediting the through put of ship repair change orders from receipt to mark-up, pricing, negotiations, settlement, schedule integration, resource loading, material and/or subcontract requisition, and purchase order issuance; identify process inefficiencies and map out recommended solutions.
  • Communication: Maintain clear communication with all internal program stakeholders, including management, to provide status updates and address potential issues.
  • Coordination: Coordinate between departments like procurement, contracts, operations, warehousing, and production to ensure smooth execution of the change order process.
  • Clerical Duties: Perform clerical duties, maintain accurate logs, and adhere to established timelines, procedures, policies, instructions, and guidelines.
  • Keep track of process delays for identification of areas for improvement.
  • Be able to occasionally prepare subcontractor and material requisitions and purchase orders for approval to expedite clearing backlogs.
Skills required:
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite: Excel, Power Point, Word, and Outlook
  • Proficiency in reading and knowledge of blueprints, drawings, diagrams, and other technical references
  • Ability to read blueprints and other technical documents
  • Ability to work and communicate with a diverse group
  • Good communication, writing, presentation, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, high volume production environment
  • Ability to obtain and maintain DBIDs
Experience Required:
  • Experience with shipyard and defense change order estimating practices
Education Required:
  • Typically, a Bachelor's Degree and 4 years work experience or equivalent experience. May substitute equivalent experience in lieu of education.
