Job Description
The Lead Expeditor is responsible for driving and tracking all supplier documents, drawings, and material/equipment deliverables for contracts of the highest criticality in accordance with the contract and project schedule. Drive improvement in supplier on-time delivery performance by prioritizing and managing outstanding supplier documents, fabrication activities, and material deliveries required to support Advanced Work Packaging (AWP) and construction sequencing. This includes expediting new, missing, or returned documents from suppliers and/or Engineering, monitoring fabrication progress, and coordinating recovery actions when required.
Responsibilities
Conduct regular analysis of supplier documentation, fabrication, and delivery performance to identify risks, constraints, and poorly performing suppliers. Lead recurring expediting meetings with suppliers, Engineering, Construction, Supply Chain, and Project Management to provide status updates and ensure deliverables are reviewed and returned in accordance with the project schedule. Provide detailed and accurate updates to stakeholders on the status of supplier documents, materials, and equipment.
The Lead Expeditor role emphasizes a proactive, systematic, and standardized approach which aggressively pursues all available courses of action to detect and avert delays to the contractual delivery dates. Identify and escalate ongoing supplier performance, documentation, or material delivery issues using established recovery and escalation protocols and drive corrective actions to resolution.
In collaboration with Workface Planning, Supplier Quality, and Material Management, ensure suppliers adhere to project schedules, inspection requirements, and required delivery sequences. Coordinate inspection schedules and shipment releases, validate material status and shipment documentation, and support timely receipt of materials in the system.
The Lead Expeditor provides leadership and support to Level I and II Expeditors by resolving complex issues, mentoring team members, and ensuring alignment with expediting standards and project goals. Additional responsibilities include preparing meeting agendas, publishing meeting minutes, reviewing and validating expediting reports, supporting process improvements, and representing the expediting function in project and leadership forums as required to support the project.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1-3 years relevant work experience
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Windows, Excel, Outlook, Word, etc.)
  • Critical thinking skills/problem solving skills to Plan and perform work where only general policies or procedures are available
  • Experienced communicator with effective verbal and written communication that allows for relationship and rapport building
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction
  • Ability to recognize timelines and deadlines to prioritize work accordingly

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Associate or bachelor's degree
  • 2-5 years of relevant experience
  • Expediting experience in large industrial construction project
  • Experience leading and managing others
  • Experience/Working knowledge of Oracle
  • Intermediate to Advance knowledge of working with Microsoft Office Suite (Windows, Excel, Outlook, Word, etc.)
