Expeditor Team Lead

Job Overview

The Expeditor Team Lead is a hands-on leader responsible for coordinating the daily flow of materials through the production floor, ensuring timely availability of parts and components to meet build schedules. This role bridges production, materials, and engineeringโ€”proactively identifying potential bottlenecks, resolving shortages, and driving continuous improvement. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver who leads by example, adapts to changing priorities, and motivates the team toward achieving production goals.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and coordinate a team of material expeditors to execute and adjust daily priorities based on real-time production needs.
  • Collaborate with production, supply chain, and engineering to identify and resolve material shortages before they impact schedules.
  • Monitor WIP locations and ensure timely material movement between receiving, kitting, production, and shipping.
  • Ensure ERP/MRP transactions (issues, transfers, and tracking) are accurate and timely.
  • Identify and address potential bottlenecks before they affect production, implementing proactive solutions.
  • Drive continuous improvement in expediting processes, material flow, and communication between teams.
  • Train, mentor, and motivate team members to promote accountability, teamwork, and proactive engagement.
  • Support cross-functional initiatives to achieve weekly and monthly production goals.
Qualifications
  • 3โ€“5 years of experience in production control, materials, or shop floor expediting.
  • 1โ€“3 years of supervisory or lead experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of material flow, WIP management, and ERP/MRP systems.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills with a team-first mindset.
  • Experience in defense or aerospace manufacturing preferred.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles.
