Job description

Job Title: Expeditor

Department: Procurement & Logistics

Reports To: Director of Purchasing

Immediate Supervisor: Warehouse Manager


Job Description:

a) Purpose & Scope The Expeditor is responsible for tracking all outstanding Purchase Orders from their order date until the receiving report is posted. The Expeditor will update the Purchase Order Database with latest shipment status. The expeditor will assist the Warehouse Manager in preparation of documentation for shipments and occasional light physical handling of freight when required.

b) Responsibilities

· Liaise with vendors, carriers and receivers to ensure that the materials flow is maintained, and shortest, most economical in-transit times are achieved.

· Proactively track all open POs, communicating daily with vendors and freight companies.

· React promptly and courteously to requisitioner inquiries regarding line items or shipment status of orders.

· Maintain open lines of communication with requisitioners as to the status of their POs (primarily via PO database comments)

· Obtain and circulate appropriate documentation to facilitate carriers and importers activities.

· Ensure PO database, “order status” is updated and correct at all times.

· Assist Warehouse Manager in verifying received goods against PO, packing slip and/or invoice.

· Provide receiving and shipment consolidation function in the absence of the Warehouse Manager.

· Other duties as required.

c) Requirements

· Computer proficiency in Excel, Word and Outlook

· Polite, friendly but firm telephone manner

· Ability to handle light lifting & moving of shipments.

· Experience in a Purchasing environment a definite asset.
