Job description

Position: Buyer/Purchasing 2
Location: Clayton, NC (100% Onsite)
Pay Rate: $21/hr
Duration: 24 Months


Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and manage purchase orders for machinery, equipment, tools, parts, and services.
  • Issue RFQs (Requests for Quotation) to suppliers and analyze total cost of ownership (TCO).
  • Evaluate suppliers based on cost, quality, delivery, service, and overall performance.
  • Present sourcing analyses and recommendations to leadership.
  • Partner with Engineering to review technical requirements and supplier capabilities.
  • Monitor supplier performance and shipments to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Resolve issues related to delayed or defective materials and services.
  • Maintain purchasing, supplier, quality, and sourcing data, including purchase orders, quotations, invoices, and supplier metrics.
  • Support implementation of sourcing strategies and continuous process improvements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve procurement, quality, and operational goals.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
  • 2–4 years of purchasing, procurement, sourcing, or supplier management experience.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience with supplier management and procurement processes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Ability to read engineering prints/drawings is preferred.
  • Experience with data analysis and process improvement is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% within the U.S. and Mexico.
