Who We’re Looking For

The Purchasing Expeditor – Engineered Parts employee ensures the smooth flow of parts, materials, and components from suppliers to the production floor to meet build schedules, minimize downtime, and support on-time customer deliveries. This role works closely with Engineering Buyer, Purchasing, Production, Engineering, and Warehouse teams to identify and resolve delays, track high-priority orders, and maintain continuity in manufacturing operations.


Requirements:

What You’ll Do

Material Flow & Tracking:

• Monitor purchase orders, work orders, and transfer orders to ensure timely arrival of required parts and materials.

• Track priority components and coordinate with suppliers, freight forwarders, and internal teams to expedite shipments.

• Ensure critical materials are staged and available for production when needed.


Production Support:

• Act as a liaison between Engineering Buyer and Engineering to resolve shortages and prevent work stoppages.

• Communicate daily with Engineering Operators to identify urgent requirements.


Supplier & Vendor Coordination:

• Follow up with suppliers on late or at-risk orders, negotiating earlier ship dates or alternate sourcing when necessary.

• Work with Transit department and or freight carriers to expedite transit and coordinate special shipping arrangements (air freight, courier, etc.).


Problem Solving & Escalation:

• Identify potential delays or supply risks and recommend corrective actions.

• Escalate critical shortages to the Engineering Buyer with clear status updates and recommendations.


Documentation & Reporting:

• Maintain accurate records in the ERP/MRP system, including revised delivery dates, shipment tracking, and order status notes.

• Utilize expert-level Excel skills and WRIKE to manage data and communication.

• Generate daily/weekly reports highlighting shortages, late orders, and expedite activities.


Continuous Improvement:

• Collaborate with Engineering Buyer and Engineering to refine expediting processes and reduce recurring shortages.

• Suggest improvements to supplier performance tracking and material planning processes.


What You Bring

Required:

• Engineering knowledge with the ability to communicate effectively with Engineers and Suppliers.

• Ability to read Engineering drawings.

• Strong communication skills for cross-department and supplier coordination.

• Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and expert-level Microsoft Excel skills.

• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.


Preferred:

• Background in procurement and materials management.

• Familiarity with supply chain, logistics, and manufacturing terminology.
