The Payroll Specialist is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of multi-state payroll for hourly and salaried employees across a fast-paced, multi-location organization. This role administers bi-weekly payroll in UKG for employees in Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Mississippi, Alabama, South Carolina, and Nebraska, ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local wage and hour laws, resolving payroll discrepancies, and supporting continuous process improvement initiatives.

Key ResponsibilitiesPayroll Processing
  • Process end-to-end bi-weekly payroll for hourly and salaried employees across 10 states using UKG.
  • Review and audit payroll data for completeness and accuracy prior to payroll submission.
  • Ensure proper taxation and withholding for multi-state payroll processing.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations, including FLSA requirements and support payroll tax reporting
  • Assist with year-end payroll activities including W-2 processing and audits.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing payroll documentation and analysis.
  • Respod to employee payroll inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Maintain employee payroll data within UKG, including earnings, deductions, direct deposit information, and tax setup.
  • Partner with HR and Operations to ensure accurate employee data changes including hires, transfers, promotions, and terminations.
Qualifications 
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of payroll processing experience in UKG in a multi-state environment.
  • Experience processing payroll for both hourly and salaried employees, including commissions, overtime, and variable compensation.
  • Strong understanding of federal and multi-state payroll laws and wage and hour compliance.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and payroll reporting tools.
  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
