Job description

We are seeking a Payroll Manager to own and scale our global payroll function across a multi-entity, multi-country organization. This role will be responsible for end-to-end payroll operations while serving as the system owner for Deel, which will function as our primary HRIS, payroll, and EOR platform. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, systems-minded, and experienced operating payroll in a global environment. You will play a critical role in ensuring accurate, compliant payroll while building scalable processes, strengthening internal controls, and supporting multi-entity financial reporting.

This is a Hybrid position in our Atlanta OR Barcelona office.

Key Responsibilities:

Global Payroll Operations:
● Own end-to-end payroll across U.S. and international entities (W-2 employees, EOR populations, and contractors)
● Operate Deel as the system of record for payroll and employee data
● Manage payroll calendars, pay cycles, and country-specific requirements across multiple jurisdictions
● Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll, bonuses, commissions, and off-cycle payments

Payroll Accounting & Close:
● Prepare and review payroll journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations across multiple entities
● Partner with Accounting to support month-end close and consolidated financial reporting
● Ensure proper GL mapping and alignment between payroll outputs and financial statements

Compliance & Controls:
● Ensure compliance with U.S. and international payroll regulations, tax filings, and statutory reporting
● Maintain strong internal controls, including segregation of duties and audit-ready processes
● Partner with Director of Tax and external advisors on payroll-related filings and audits

Systems & Process Optimization:
● Serve as system owner for Deel, including configuration, maintenance, and optimization
● Drive automation and scalability of payroll processes across entities, currencies, and geographies
● Build and document standardized payroll workflows and procedures

Cross-Functional Partnership:
● Partner with HR on onboarding, terminations, compensation changes, and employee lifecycle events
● Serve as primary point of contact for payroll-related employee and executive inquiries
● Collaborate with Finance, Legal, and Operations on global workforce and compliance matters

Qualifications:

Required:
● 6–10+ years of payroll experience, including multi-entity and multi-country payroll
● Experience managing payroll in Deel as a primary HRIS and global payroll platform, including U.S. W-2 payroll and international populations
● Experience operating a unified global payroll platform across multiple entities and jurisdictions, including ownership of payroll accounting and system integrations
● Strong working knowledge of NetSuite, including payroll-related GL impacts
● Experience managing EOR, contractor, and employee payroll models in a global environment
● High attention to detail with a strong internal-controls mindset
● Experience operating in a fast-paced, scaling organization

Preferred:
● Experience supporting multi-subsidiary, multi-currency environments
● Prior ownership of payroll system implementations or migrations
● Strong cross-functional communication skills and comfort working onsite with leadership
