Position Overview and Responsibilities:
Grayton Beach State Park is looking for a self-motivated individual to fill a cabin cleaner position, providing visitor services, maintenance, and customer service. The applicant must possess good visitor service skills, be able to work independently and have the ability to perform a variety of functions. The applicant must be able to work rotating shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Compliance with the processing requirements of Chapter 215.422, F.S. is mandatory. Persistent failure to comply with this section by any agency of the state shall constitute good cause for discharge of employees duly found responsible, or predominantly responsible, for failure to comply.
This is moderately independent work providing Visitor Services, Maintenance, and Customer Service at Grayton Beach State Park.
VISITOR SERVICES - Explains facilities and services provided for public use, enjoyment and education; meets visitors, answer questions, provides information and directions in an accurate and professional manner.
MAINTENANCE - Maintains cleanliness of rental cabins. Maintains cleanliness of grounds and facilities.
OTHER - Performs other related duties as required.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
KNOWLEDGE OF:
  • Basic computer skills to be able to complete a timesheet
  • Basic cleaning and safety
  • good public relations

SKILL IN:
  • communicating effectively verbally and in writing
  • provide high-level customer service
  • Operating trucks, LSV and golf carts.
  • interacting with all internal and external customers and the general public in a professional, tactful and courteous manner
  • utilize a computer including, but not limited to software programs such as Microsoft Office Suite

ABILITY TO:
  • follow verbal and written instructions/directions
  • work independently with minimal supervision
  • establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • effectively communicate verbally and in writing
  • clean park facilities, including but not limited to, cleaning cabins and picking up trash
  • work outdoors in inclement weather
  • perform physical labor
  • lift 40 pounds and assist in transporting items or other supplies.
  • work rotating shifts including nights, weekends and holidays
  • maintain a valid driver's license

Grayton Beach State Park (GBSP) is located in Santa Rosa Beach, in the community of Grayton Beach on Scenic 30A. This Recreation Area manages 2000 acres of land on the Gulf of America. There are 61 campsites with electric, water and sewer plus 15 duplex cabins. The Park has a 1-mile dune nature trail and a 4 ½ mile hiking/biking forest trail. The Park provides 3 miles of white quartz-sand beaches, a home to threatened-endangered sea turtles, shorebirds and dune systems. There will also be opportunities for resource management and wildlife monitoring.
