Compensation: $18.00 to $23.62 per hour (Exact rate is determined on a case-by-case basis commensurate with experience level, as well as education and certifications pertaining to each position which may be above the listed job requirements.)

First impressions are everything in healthcare. As a Medical Office Specialist, you are the very first person our patients talk to on the phone and greet when they walk through the door. We are looking for someone who is organized, compassionate, and ready to help our busy practice run smoothly so our doctors and nurses can focus on healing.
How You Will Fulfill Your Potential (Responsibilities)
Responsibilities
  • Help Patients Feel Welcome: Greet patients, handle the check-in process, and make sure all paperwork and history forms are accurate and up to date.
  • Manage the Calendar: Schedule appointments, coordinate follow-up care, and proactively reach out to patients who missed an appointment to help them get back on track.
  • Handle Patient Calls: Answer phones and use your best judgment to figure out what the patient needs, looping in a nurse or doctor when a medical question pops up.
  • Keep Things Organized: Sort incoming mail, swiftly route lab and test results to the right hands, and keep patient charts updated and accurate.
  • Navigate Insurance & Billing: Check insurance info, contact insurers to secure referrals, and safely process payments at the front desk. You will also help apply standard billing codes (ICD-10, CPT) to patient records.

What You Bring (Qualifications)
  • Education: A high school diploma or equivalent. (An Associate degree in healthcare or business is a plus!)
  • Experience: At least one year of experience working in a medical office
  • Skills: Good computer skills (Word, Excel, and typing), a solid grasp of medical terminology, and the ability to stay calm and kind when things get busy or stressful
