CHMC - Lab- Laboratory Secretary- Per Diem - Day Shift 9a-5p - Requisition 9212
Pay Range: $18.93-$25.03*
The Laboratory Secretary is responsible for processing laboratory requisitions including accessioning, charging, filing, and dispersing reports in a timely fashion. Responsible for registering specimens delivered by the courier. Must possess knowledge of transport requirements for OR specimens including fresh specimens. Must be familiar with laboratory terminology to assist providers when giving oral reports. Must possess ability to operate general office equipment, (i.e. Computer workstation, printer, copier, fax). Attention to detail is required when screening bills for accuracy. Must be able to relay messages and reports to other department employees and physicians in a pleasant and accurate manner. Position requires frequent walking, standing, sitting, some bending and reaching.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Typing (keyboarding), clerical and general office procedures, and good written and oral communication skills required.
  • Medical terminology courses and/or clerical experience in a health related field desirable.
