Job description

Position: Department Secretary

Department: Women's Health Services/Pain Management

Schedule: Part Time, 20 hours, Days

POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for dictation management, filing, coordinating patient appointments and correspondence for the Pain Management Center. Provides clerical and receptionist functions for the center. Provides back-up coverage for all front desk operations, including answering telephones, appointment scheduling, patient data collection and dissemination, problem solving, and patient triage. Assists in all secretarial activities related to the function of the Pain Service of the Department of Anesthesiology. Assists front desk secretary when needed and provides coverage during breaks/absences. Special projects to be assigned on an as needed basis.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION:

High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent) is required.

EXPERIENCE:

Two years of experience in a hospital setting; Medical Terminology.

SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong computer and typing proficiency.
  • Experience operating standard office equipment, including fax and photocopy machines.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and handle multiple tasks at once.

Compensation Range:

$17.88- $26.57
