The Austin Public School District is seeking to hire a .5 FTE licensed parent educator to work with our ECFE program.
APS is a world-class public school system located in Austin, MN. We employ over 800 full- and part-time employees and serve over 5000 students from diverse backgrounds.
Our ECFE program works with families who represent the population of our community. Parent educator will be working with early childhood teachers and paraeducators to design and deliver family programming to a diverse population of families with children birth through kindergarten. Classes include morning, afternoon and evening. Classes are held at the Community Learning Center and at community locations within Austin. Parent educator will also work with community organizations like Mower County Health and Human Services, Rachel's Hope, Parenting Resource Center, Salvation Army, Austin Public Library and others to meet the needs of the families we serve.
Qualifications:
Candidates must have or be able to obtain a proper License from PELSB.
Essential knowledge and specialized subject knowledge required to perform the essential functions of the job:
Prior successful experience in multicultural education desirable.
Demonstrates continued professional development through course work, research, peer collaboration, and/or job-embedded staff development.
Working knowledge of the subject matter, classroom management techniques, current researched best practices and strategies, as well as students' learning styles and needs, both academic and affective.
Salary/Benefits: Annual Salary Range is according to education and experience. Also includes a competitive benefits package of paid time off, health insurance, life insurance, etc., according to the AEA Working Agreement located within the Human Resource section of the Austin Public Schools website at www.austin.k12.mn.us.
