The Position: The Bakery Steward is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and organization of the bakery equipment and bakery area. This position ensures that all pots, pans, dishware, and utensils are properly cleaned and sanitized while maintaining adequate levels of cleaning supplies. Additional responsibilities include assisting in the cleanliness of food preparation and production areas, packaging of baked goods, and handling compost and linens. This role plays a vital part in upholding a clean and efficient kitchen environment, contributing to the overall success of daily operations. Shift starts at 5am.

The Location: Norwich, VT; onsite daily.

The Pay: $18.04 to $18.93 per hour worked; commensurate with experience.

The Schedule: This is a year-round, part-time position, ideally working 24 hours per week. Available shifts are Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 5am-1pm.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Clean and Sanitize Kitchenware Wash, sanitize, and properly store pots, pans, dishware, and utensils to maintain food safety standards.
  • Maintain a Clean and Organized Dish Area Ensure the dishwashing area remains tidy, efficient, and free of clutter.
  • Stock and Monitor Cleaning Supplies Keep dish detergents and cleaning materials at appropriate levels, replenishing as needed.
  • Support Kitchen and Food Prep Cleanliness Assist in cleaning food preparation and production areas to uphold hygiene and safety standards.
  • Follow Opening and Closing Procedures Complete daily checklists to ensure the kitchen and dishwashing areas are ready for operation.
  • Handle Waste and Linens Properly bag and transport compost and linens to designated disposal areas.
  • Package Baked Goods Properly packaged baked goods adhering to food safety standards.

Education and Experience

  • Prior experience working as a Dish Washer or in a similar role preferred but not required
  • Ability to work early morning shifts (5AM).
