Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Planning Manager to join our dynamic team. This role is pivotal in ensuring smooth operations across multiple contract manufacturers, driving efficiency, and delivering high-quality products to market on time. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in production planning, supply chain management, and relationship management within a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Production Planning & Scheduling: Develop and manage production schedules with contract manufacturers to ensure on-time delivery of products while meeting demand forecasts.
  • Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels to balance supply with customer demand, avoiding overstocking or shortages.
  • Vendor Coordination: Serve as the primary point of contact for contract manufacturers, fostering strong partnerships to ensure adherence to quality, timelines, and cost expectations.
  • Demand Forecasting: Collaborate with sales, marketing, and operations teams to generate accurate demand forecasts and adjust production plans accordingly.
  • Process Improvement: Identify and implement process enhancements to improve operational efficiency and reduce lead times.
  • Quality Assurance: Work closely with Quality and Food Safety teams to ensure all products meet regulatory and brand standards.
  • Cost Management: Monitor production and logistics costs, identifying opportunities for cost savings without compromising quality.
  • Data Analysis: Utilize data-driven insights to track performance metrics, forecast trends, and optimize planning decisions.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with all applicable food safety, regulatory, and environmental standards.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in production planning, supply chain management, or operations, preferably within the food industry.
  • Proven experience managing relationships with contract manufacturers.
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in planning tools and software (e.g., ERP systems).
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills to effectively manage vendor relationships.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
  • Passion for natural and sustainable foods is a plus.


Work environment:

  • Remote work available but candidates must be living in the Chicago area to be in close proximity to NSI's office location. Please do not apply if you are not willing to relocate.
  • Potentially 20-25% of the position would consist of visiting the NSI office or manufacturing facilities in the Chicago area as needed to support any of the company initiatives such as local team meetings and quarterly inventory counts.
