Job Summary
The Medical Records Assistant is responsible for ensuring and maintaining the efficient operation of a fast-paced health center and providing support to all team members.
Performs general administrative duties of the medical office, including but not limited to answering phones, responding to emails, scheduling appointments, disseminating schedules and changes thereto, greeting students and visitors, preparing necessary forms before student appointments, and opening/closing the department. Provides outstanding customer service to our students, staff, families, external entities, and outside vendors.
Compensation Package: $31,200 (9-month), plus comprehensive benefits, including:
  • Schedule - Monday - Friday 37.5 hours per week, some evening hours, no weekends or holidays
  • Paid Time Off - Generous vacation & sick leave banks, and the University is closed the last week of December for winter break.
  • Medical insurance - Low bi-weekly premium for medical, dental and vision benefits, with coverage starting on the first day of employment for employee and all dependents.
  • Group life insurance - Equal to annual salary (up to $40,000) at no cost to the employee. Additional coverage is available for purchase at low rates.
  • Long Term Disability Insurance - Available for purchase at low rates with either a 90 or 180-day waiting period.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Minimum three years of experience in a fast-paced office setting or facility.
  • Completed an associate's degree or post-secondary certification in a human services or business-related field.
  • Working knowledge of Office 365 and the ability to learn new software programs.
  • Exemplary written communication demonstrated in the cover letter.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Three to five years as a patient-facing medical secretary in a fast-paced department of a hospital, primary care office, or ambulatory care setting.
  • One to three years of experience in a mental health practice or facility.
  • Associate's degree in Medical Records or Medical Assisting.
  • Experience working with individuals between the ages of 17-24.

The starting salary for this position is $31,830.00, based on the AFSCME Collective Bargaining Agreement. This position is for 9 months each year.
