What does a medical appointment scheduler do?

As a medical appointment scheduler, your job is to manage the schedule for new and existing patients to ensure they receive the health care they need. To accomplish this, you process digital requests, complete appointment forms, make requests for medical records, and coordinate as required with a hospital. You may perform general office duties as well. Medical appointment schedulers also add information to databases, update and purge databases as necessary, respond to inquiries about policies and procedures, help train new employees, and ensure special equipment or supplies are available as needed. In rare cases, you may have to contact other service providers to transfer patients. This usually happens when a specialized doctor like a surgeon doesn't have enough time to provide a patient with the care they need.
