We are looking for an experienced Accounting Manager/Supervisor to lead core accounting operations and support sound financial decision-making for the organization in Honolulu, Hawaii. Responsibilities:
• Direct daily accounting activities across payables, receivables, billing, journal entries, and general ledger maintenance to keep records accurate and current.
• Lead month-end close by completing reconciliations on schedule, reviewing account activity, and ensuring reliable financial results.
• Coordinate organizational budgeting, forecasting, and variance reporting, including analysis of funding streams and explanations for differences against plan.
• Prepare monthly financial statements and other reports for leadership, board members, funders, and project stakeholders.
• Oversee financial compliance for grants, contracts, audits, tax preparation, annual filings, and required reporting at the local, state, and federal levels.
• Monitor cash flow, banking activity, investments, and debt-related reporting to support liquidity and overall financial stability.
• Partner with staff, vendors, and external contractors to collect project-level financial information, submit invoices, and align spending with approved funding requirements.
• Maintain and improve internal controls, accounting procedures, and operating workflows, while recommending policy updates that support accuracy and efficiency.
• Advise leadership on financial strategy, funding outlook, and operational planning, and contribute to broader organizational initiatives as part of the leadership team.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a closely related field, with substantial accounting experience.
• At least 10 years of accounting experience, including a minimum of 2 years in a supervisory or management capacity.
• Strong background in month-end close, general ledger oversight, account reconciliation, journal entries, and financial statement preparation.
• Experience supporting audits, tax readiness, and compliance reporting for multiple funding sources, contracts, or regulated programs.
• Proficiency with QuickBooks Online and the ability to generate accurate financial reports from accounting systems.
• Construction project accounting experience is highly preferred.
• Certification such as CPA, CMA, or a similar advanced credential is preferred.
• Excellent organizational and project coordination skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively with multiple stakeholders.
