We are looking for an Accounting Manager/Supervisor to support a fast-growing performance apparel company in Brooklyn, New York. This position partners closely with finance leadership and cross-functional teams to strengthen core accounting operations, improve reporting accuracy, and build scalable processes. The ideal candidate brings a hands-on approach, strong technical accounting knowledge, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
Responsibilities:
• Lead key monthly close activities, ensuring balance sheet accounts are reconciled accurately and financial results are reviewed in a timely manner.
• Maintain cash account integrity by preparing bank reconciliations and resolving discrepancies across transactions and balances.
• Oversee fixed asset accounting, including capitalization tracking, depreciation calculations, and schedule maintenance.
• Record and monitor revenue activity based on order fulfillment while reconciling deferred revenue, returns, and related liabilities.
• Support lease accounting compliance by keeping lease records current and aligned with applicable accounting guidance.
• Contribute to finance transformation efforts by assisting with data validation, system testing, and process improvements tied to accounting workflows.
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable activity, including invoice processing, discrepancy resolution, and upkeep of supporting schedules.
• Perform inventory-related accounting tasks, including monthly reconciliations, cost tracking, and reclassification of inventory balances to finished goods.
• Prepare payroll journal entries, reconcile payroll-related liabilities, and post accruals and prepaid expenses at month end.• 3-6 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within a consumer products or omnichannel retail environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, including lease accounting and revenue recognition standards.
• Practical experience with month-end close, general ledger activity, reconciliations, and journal entries.
• Familiarity with inventory accounting, cost of goods sold, and annual inventory processes.
• Advanced Excel skills and experience working with accounting or ERP systems.
• High level of accuracy, organization, and written and verbal communication skills.
