Description

Oversees, and manages the institution's information and academic services including all computing and telecommunications systems and activities including voice and data systems and related hardware and software. In addition, works with the IT staff to implement a strategic plan as outlined by the President and Cabinet.


Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Provides leadership, coordination, and implementation of administrative and academic computing hardware and software that establishes organizational efficiency and reflects best practices of the industry
  • Responsible for the implementation of strategic planning and goals for the department
  • Maintains communication with the administration and SMWC population regarding Information Technology
  • Works cooperatively with the Vice President of Academic Affairs, academic department chairs and Faculty to develop technology to enhance teaching and learning and makes recommendations regarding technology purchases and acquisitions
  • Assists in the management of the campus Critical Systems (i.e. SIS, CRM, LMS, Active Directory) as well as administering the campus computer labs and academic software
  • Supervises, supports, and evaluates the performance of IT personnel, including training, evaluations, hiring and firing, disciplinary actions and record keeping
  • Maintains documentation and information about the campus network, including core systems, servers, networking, telephony, helpdesk and security
  • Maintains and manages a budget for the department of Information Technology
  • Manages inventory of administrative and academic hardware and software, and communicate with vendors of such resources for information and support
  • Provides recommendations on information security policies and procedures

  • Performs other duties as assigned

  • Will supervise information technology staff and may supervise student workers

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or relevant education/training in applicable area (experience may be substituted for a degree and/or education)
  • Five or more years of experience in information technology with a background in educational technology
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Advanced troubleshooting and problem identification skills, including the ability to make decisions and achieve resolution to problems
  • Ability to work with all campus users (faculty, staff, students) and external constituents (e.g. vendors, prospective students, parents of students)
  • Maintains confidentiality of user information, and complies with College and regulatory policies regarding data security
