Position Overview
The IT Manager leads the firm's technology operations, ensuring systems are secure, reliable, and support internal workflows and client service delivery. This is a hands-on, player-coach role responsible for team leadership, complex issue escalation, and leading technology initiatives. The IT Manager partners with leadership to translate business needs into solutions, oversees the firm's software ecosystem including application lifecycle and licensing, and coordinates with a third-party cloud provider while maintaining ownership of internal IT operations, business applications, and end-user support.
Essential Functions
  • Lead the daily operation of the firm's technology environment across three offices and remote employees, ensuring systems are reliable, secure, and effective.
  • Oversee service delivery for IT support, including incidents, requests, and system issues, ensuring timely resolution and a high level of user satisfaction.
  • Serve as the escalation point for complex technical issues and guide resolution efforts as needed.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the IT team; establish priorities and allocate resources across support, maintenance, and project work while fostering a collaborative, solutions-focused team culture.
  • Maintain operational oversight of core technology systems including Microsoft 365, Azure, Active Directory, networking, and firm applications.
  • Coordinate with external partners supporting cloud infrastructure to ensure system reliability, performance, and effective execution of upgrades and maintenance.
  • Oversee the lifecycle management of the firm's software ecosystem, including approximately 200 applications.
  • Manage software licensing, renewals, and vendor relationships while maintaining visibility into application ownership, support responsibilities, and system dependencies.
  • Evaluate opportunities to optimize, consolidate, or implement new solutions to improve the firm's technology environment.
  • Support cybersecurity practices, including system safeguards, incident response, and ongoing development of disaster recovery and business continuity capabilities.
  • Manage and maintain the firm's Written Information Security Program (WISP), ensuring ongoing compliance with applicable regulatory and data protection requirements.
  • Manage relationships with technology vendors and service providers, including oversight of support, performance expectations, contracts, and renewals.
  • Partner with firm leadership and operational teams to understand business needs, translate them into actionable technology solutions, and communicate recommendations clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities to improve workflows, efficiency, and the overall employee technology experience.
  • Lead technology initiatives including software implementations, infrastructure improvements, and system enhancements, ensuring effective planning, change management, execution, and user adoption.
  • Monitor technology spending and software subscriptions; coordinate purchasing and lifecycle tracking of technology assets.
  • Identify upcoming technology needs and provide recommendations to the CAO for future investment.

Other Functions:
  • Develops an understanding of and adheres to Firm policies and procedures, including (as appropriate) the Firm's Quality Control document.
  • Maintains current knowledge of technology trends, cybersecurity practices, and emerging tools relevant to professional services environments, and applies that knowledge to improve the Firm's technology landscape.
  • Develops a solid understanding of the services and operations of Kerkering Barberio to effectively support business needs through technology• Performs other duties as may be assigned.

Required Experience and Skills
  • Experience leading IT operations and supporting multi-user environments.
  • Experience managing or mentoring IT staff.
  • Hands-on experience with server (physical and virtual), network, and application implementation and migration projects.
  • Deep understanding of core networking protocols, services, and concepts (i.e. DHCP, DNS, Layer 2/3, VLAN, VPN).
  • Extensive experience with Active Directory and EntraID domain functions and policies (i.e. GPO, conditional access, organizational units).
  • Experience with Azure network architecture and design principles.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise systems, cloud services, and SaaS applications.
  • Ability to translate business needs into technology solutions.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and prioritization skills in a dynamic environment.

Required Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field preferred
Required Experience: 5-7 years' related experience
License/Certification: Microsoft certifications, CompTIA certifications (Network+, Security+, etc.), and a Project management certification (PMP, Agile, Scrum)
Working Requirements:
  • On-call availability for support outside normal business hours.
  • Occasional travel to firm offices and meetings.
  • Occasional overtime, with increased demands during peak periods and major projects.

Safety:
  • Minimal hazards.
  • General office working conditions.
  • Required to lift items (computers, monitors, boxes, etc.) in the range of 10-25 pounds on a regular basis and beyond 50 pounds on an occasional basis.
