SCOPE:
The Head of Information Technology serves as a strategic partner to senior leadership, driving the alignment of technology investments with business priorities while leading a high-performing IT organization.
This role is responsible for providing strategic, operational, and tactical leadership to a team of Information Technology & Shared Services professionals supporting MHIA and its affiliates.
The ideal candidate will have at least a minimum of fifteen (15) years of relevant work experience, and a minimum of twelve (12) years of experience in an IT Leadership Role.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide input to the strategic direction of IT, directly influencing the business direction in new and existing products and systems as well as upcoming integration efforts with new acquisitions
  • Participate in the development of the strategic information technology plan, processes and solutions.
  • Understand the technology risks and information security challenges in the current and future state; contributes to the design and approval of an overall information security strategy.
  • Promote compliance with MHI Group rules regarding governance, cybersecurity, and information management.
  • Develop and oversee deployment and adherence to approved IT policies and procedures and monitor industry best practices to maintain and drive IT efficiencies in support of MHIA's goals.
  • Build strong relationships with key internal and significant external partners and coordinate and drive business relationships.
  • Develop a strong working knowledge of clients' and users' businesses.
  • Serve as a strategic business partner to senior leadership, understanding business strategies and goals, and how they are accomplished through effective people strategies and programs.
  • Build and foster a customer-centric and product-focused mindset across the organization, actively partnering with the business leaders to identify efficiencies.
  • Lead, expand, and mentor the IT team by setting the strategy and prioritizing Objectives and KPIs. Hiring, training, and developing a world-class team.
  • Assess the IT team's capacity to meet customer demands and supplement internal capabilities by leveraging contractors, managed services, BPO (Business Process Outsourcing), and other third-party resources.
  • Review and modify IT team roles and organizational structure as needed to meet customer needs.
  • Prepare and submit an annual operational budget for each area of responsibility, manage within this budget, and report accurately on progress and challenges.
  • Report to MHI's DI Headquarters on IT performance, risks, compliance, and strategic initiatives.
  • Drive global IT strategy within the region, add region-specific initiatives, and develop strong alignment with the global IT functions - the regional IT road map, which is then executed in alignment with MHI Global Information Technologies' global Support initiatives and programs.
  • Evaluate external advancements in the IT industry to improve customer and user satisfaction, reduce operating expenses, and maximize revenues.
  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Education Requirement: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience: Minimum of fifteen (15) years of relevant work experience, and a minimum of twelve (12) years of experience in an IT Leadership Role.
  • Ability to manage and influence cross-business and global teams.
  • Ability to understand issues at both strategic and operational levels.
  • Experience building a high-achieving, cross-functional team; can impart business acumen to IT teams.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Preferred: Experience working at a Japanese multinational company.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Travel: Up to 40%
  • Standard Monday - Friday work week; weekend/late night work, occasionally.
  • Lifting/physical requirements: Regularly required to sit for long periods, stand, walk, talk and/or hear. Frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Full-time work location in Houston HQ office.
