Job description

JOB TITLE: Coordinator of Library Programming & Literacy
CONTRACT: 215 days
REPORTS TO: Executive Director of Academic Achievement

SALARY RANGE:

  • Competitive in the greater Cleveland metropolitan area and commensurate with experience and training.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's degree in Library Science, Education, Literacy, Curriculum & Instruction, or related field preferred.
  • Valid Ohio teaching license/certification appropriate to assignment required.
  • Library/Media Specialist endorsement or reading/literacy endorsement preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years successful teaching and/or library/media experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of literacy instruction, library systems, instructional technology, and curriculum development.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and collaborative leadership skills.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Library Program Leadership

  • Supervises and directs school librarians and media specialists in developing innovative and engaging library services.
  • Ensure library programs align with district curriculum goals, literacy standards, and instructional priorities.
  • Assist with the selection, evaluation, and maintenance of print and digital library resources.
  • Develop procedures and best practices for library operations, circulation systems, and resource management.
  • Monitor and support compliance with state and federal regulations related to library services and instructional materials.

Literacy Development

  • Collaborate with curriculum and instructional staff to support district literacy initiatives.
  • Promote reading engagement and literacy enrichment opportunities for students across all grade levels.
  • Coordinate district reading programs, author visits, literacy nights, and other literacy-focused events.
  • Analyze literacy-related data and assist in developing strategies to improve student achievement.
  • Support instructional staff with literacy resources, instructional strategies, and professional learning opportunities.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of a districtwide literacy plan.

Instructional Collaboration & Support

  • Work collaboratively with teachers to integrate research skills, information literacy, digital citizenship, and media literacy into classroom instruction.
  • Support equitable access to instructional technology and digital learning resources.
  • Assist staff and students in utilizing educational databases, digital platforms, and research tools.
  • Provide professional development related to literacy, library services, instructional resources, and emerging technologies.

Program Management & Community Engagement

  • Curriculum & Materials: Oversee the selection, review, and curation of library literacy collections, supplementary materials, and resources.
  • Develop and manage budgets related to library programming and literacy initiatives.
  • Pursue grants and partnerships to enhance literacy and library services.
  • Foster relationships with public libraries, educational organizations, and community partners.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and program evaluations for district leadership and the Board of Education as requested.
  • Maintain accurate records and inventories of library resources and program activities.
