POSITION SUMMARY:
The position of Research Program Coordinator (RPC) for PCOM Georgia/South Georgia is under the scientific and strategic leadership of the Division of Research and Chief Research and Science Officer (CSRO). The RPC will report directly to the CRSO. The RPC will be responsible for coordinating, facilitating and expanding research activities at PCOM Georgia/South Georgia and forming strategic partnerships with universities, healthcare centers and companies throughout GA. The RPC will work collaboratively with all constituents of PCOM Georgia/South Georgia, including but not limited to the College of Osteopathic Medicine and School of Pharmacy, Physician Assistant Studies program, Department of Biomedical Sciences, and all other programs at PCOM Georgia/South Georgia in which faculty and students are involved in research.

This in-person position is based at PCOM Georgia in Suwanee, GA. Occasional travel to PCOM South Georgia and PCOM Philadelphia is required.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The candidate will assist the CRSO to achieve the following goals for the research program:

  • Plan and execute research-related events at PCOM GA/SGA, including research-focused guest speakers and webinars, Research Day, and informational research events for current students and at admissions events.

  • Manage internally-funded research projects, including fund allocation, progress reporting and resource procurement.

  • Cultivate collaborative and ongoing relationships with PCOM GA/SGA faculty and students across programs and departments to expand the programs of research on both Georgia campuses.

  • Promote partnerships within the scientific and healthcare communities in Georgia to increase research opportunities for students.

Additional Responsibilities Include:

  • Work closely with the PCOM grant administrator to assist faculty in the development and submission of research proposals for extramural funding opportunities.

  • Work with the PCOM library to assist students and faculty in manuscript preparation and submission.

  • Work with the lab managers and safety officer to ensure laboratory safety and compliance.

  • Facilitate investigator and student regulatory compliance by providing information and direction on training requirements.

  • Serve as the direct report for the laboratory manager and resource manager in-person on the Suwanee, GA campus Monday-Friday.

  • Work with the CRSO to maintain a database of faculty and student publications, presentations and grant applications for accreditation reporting.

  • Work with the CRSO to develop the annual budget for the research needs of PCOM Georgia and South Georgia, including requests for equipment.

  • Manage lab staff in the research laboratories,

  • Facilitate faculty/student research project partnerships.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • A minimum of three (3) years research experience.

  • Expertise in computer software programs, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint is required.

  • Demonstrated expertise in basic and translational research from either an academic institution or company.

  • Knowledge of clinical research is desired.

  • Excellent administrative and managerial skills to work with faculty from various programs and departments to develop productive, multidisciplinary research programs.

  • Excellent networking and communication skills.

EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Willing and able to be on campus five days per week.

  • Primarily sedentary work. Occasionally lift supplies and minor equipment.

  • Manual dexterity and mobility is required in order to use equipment, computer and other office equipment.

  • Must be able to travel as needed to PCOM South Georgia (Moultrie) and PCOM Philadelphia.

Starting Salary: $41,000

The referenced salary range is based on PCOM good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level.
