Job description

Conflicts Analyst

The Conflicts Analyst is responsible for running the conflicts of interest reports for new clients and matters and preparing the reports for review by the Conflicts Staff Attorneys (CSA), including developing search terms that will ensure the most accurate and relevant data is included in the search report reported. The Conflicts Analyst will also conduct due diligence research on all potential new clients and, based on that research, will prepare a New Client Evaluation that contains a description of the new client, the proposed scope of work and an assessment of the potential risks presented by the new client. Additionally, as the initial point of contact during the new business intake process, the Conflicts Analyst will play a critical role in ensuring the standardization and integrity of data and information gathering during the new business intake process.

Responsibilities

  • Perform initial review of conflicts requests and work with secretaries and submitters to obtain clear and precise information with an emphasis on careful search terms that will generate the appropriate and relevant search results.
  • Compile conflicts reports that incorporate research and analysis from the firm's internal conflicts database and external corporate research tools.
  • Prepare New Client Evaluations identifying ethical, financial, and reputational risks presented by potential clients for use by Firm lawyers and management.
  • Collaborate with CSAs to provide partners with clear and concise summaries of required steps to resolve and address any potential conflicts during the client and matter intake process.
  • Assist with initiatives aimed at improving the quality and quantity of information provided to partners taking on new clients and matters.
  • At the request of the Conflicts Operations Manager, the Conflicts Analyst may be asked to establish ethical screens or handle requests to reopen closed clients and matters received from partners.
  • Performs various special projects and duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 2+ years of experience as a Conflicts Analyst
  • Database research experience and/or experience with corporate research resources (including CapitalIQ, Hoovers/Dunn & Bradstreet and/or Bureau van Dijk)
  • Experience with conflicts search and/or risk management applications (including Elite, LegalKey, Intapp Open and/or Intapp Wallbuilder)
  • KYC and AML Experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
