Status: Temporary (1 Month), Full-Time, Non-Exempt

Salary: $25.00 per hour

Thanks to our supporters, more than 200 local and international families have been able to build or repair their own homes here in Los Angeles' San Gabriel Valley and beyond. Through the years, we have maintained our unrelenting determination to help families in need by offering a hand up, not a handout. Through donations, shopping at our ReStores, volunteering or adding a voice to support affordable housing, everyone can help families achieve the strength, stability, and self-reliance they need to build better lives for themselves.


Job Summary:ย 

The Grant Writer Assistant supports the Development Department by assisting with grant research, proposal preparation, reporting, data collection, and administrative tasks related to institutional fundraising efforts. This position works closely with development staff to help identify funding opportunities, maintain grant calendars, gather program information, track deadlines, and ensure timely submission of grant applications and reports.


Key Responsibilities:

Grant Research & Proposal Support

  • Research grant opportunities from foundations, corporations, and government agencies.
  • Assist in preparing grant applications, letters of inquiry, and supporting documentation.
  • Draft portions of grant proposals, reports, and funding requests.
  • Gather programmatic data, statistics, narratives, and success stories for use in grant submissions.
  • Maintain grant templates and proposal materials.

Grant Administration

  • Track grant deadlines, reporting requirements, and submission schedules.
  • Maintain grant files, records, and electronic documentation.
  • Update grant tracking systems and databases.
  • Assist with collecting and organizing required attachments, budgets, and supporting documents.

Reporting & Data Management

  • Compile program outcomes and impact data for grant reports.
  • Coordinate with internal departments to gather information needed for proposals and reports.
  • Ensure accurate recordkeeping of grants awarded, pending ย applications, and reporting obligations.
  • Assist with donor and funder acknowledgment correspondence as needed.

Administrative Support

  • Schedule meetings and coordinate communications related to grant projects.
  • Assist with maintaining development department files and records.
  • Provide general administrative support to the Development Department.
  • Support fundraising events and special projects as assigned.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • One (1) year of administrative, nonprofit, fundraising, grant writing, or related experience preferred.
  • Strong written communication and proofreading skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and priorities effectively.
