Job Description

The Sales Operations Analyst is a critical member of the Sales Operations team, responsible for transforming Salesforce CRM data into the reporting, analysis, and insights that drive revenue performance. This role owns forecast accuracy, pipeline visibility, and sales stage analytics for the commercial team, and serves as the analytical engine that connects field activity to business outcomes. This is a high-visibility role that partners directly with sales leadership to identify risk, surface opportunity, and enable smarter decisions at every stage of the funnel. The primary accountability for this role is to deliver accurate, timely, and actionable sales analytics from Salesforce that improve forecast confidence, increase pipeline coverage, and enable sales leadership to manage territory performance with precision.

Position Responsibilities

Forecasting and Pipeline Management
  • Own weekly forecast reporting from Salesforce, including commit, best case, and pipeline views by rep, region, and vertical
  • Analyze pipeline coverage ratios relative to quota and flag coverage gaps for leadership review
  • Track forecast accuracy over time and identify patterns in rep-level sandbagging or overcommitting
  • Maintain and refine opportunity scoring to improve forecast reliability
  • Build and maintain rolling pipeline trend reports to give leadership early warning of funnel deterioration

Sales Stage and Funnel Analytics
  • Conduct ongoing analysis of stage-to-stage conversion rates to identify drop-off points and bottlenecks
  • Track average sales cycle length by product, segment, vertical, and rep to surface meaningful variance
  • Alert sales leadership to stalled deals and aging opportunities before they become at-risk
  • Analyze win/loss patterns and tie outcomes to identifiable deal characteristics

Territory and Quota Coverage
  • Build and maintain territory coverage dashboards that show activity, pipeline, and closed revenue by geographic region and assigned rep
  • Report on quota attainment progress and identify reps or territories trending behind plan
  • Support territory planning and realignment exercises with data-backed recommendations
  • Track penetration rates within key verticals and customer segments

Sales Activity and Productivity Reporting
  • Monitor rep-level activity metrics in Salesforce including calls, meetings, demos, and proposal submissions
  • Analyze the relationship between activity inputs and pipeline outcomes to identify high-leverage behaviors
  • Build leaderboard and performance scorecards for weekly and monthly sales reviews
  • Support quota-setting and capacity planning processes with historical performance data

CRM Data Quality and Process Governance
  • Own Salesforce data hygiene standards for the commercial team, including required fields, stage definitions, and opportunity documentation
  • Identify and correct data entry gaps that compromise reporting accuracy
  • Partner with Sales Operations Manager and IT on Salesforce configuration and reporting enhancements
  • Develop and maintain documentation for Salesforce reporting standards and definitions

Executive Reporting and Stakeholder Support
  • Prepare weekly, monthly, and quarterly sales performance packages for leadership review
  • Build and maintain Salesforce dashboards for executive visibility into revenue KPIs
  • Respond to ad hoc analytical requests from VP of Sales, Revenue Operations, and leadership team
  • Present findings clearly, with recommended actions, not just data

Position Qualifications

  • 3-5+ years of experience in a sales operations, revenue operations, or sales analytics role
  • Hands-on Salesforce experience in a reporting and analytics capacity (required)
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain pipeline, forecast, and territory reports
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including pivot tables, Power Query, data modeling, and complex formulas
  • Strong analytical thinking with the ability to translate data into a clear narrative
  • Experience supporting a quota-carrying sales team in a B2B environment
  • Clear, confident written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with Power BI or comparable data visualization tools
  • Advanced Python skills for data analysis, including pandas, NumPy, and data pipeline development
  • Salesforce reporting certification or equivalent demonstrated proficiency
  • Familiarity with CRM data governance and field-level configuration
  • Background in industrial, manufacturing, transportation, or clean energy sectors
  • Experience with sales forecasting methodologies (commit-based, weighted pipeline, AI-assisted)
