What is executive recruitment?

Executive recruitment is the process of identifying, attracting, and hiring highly qualified candidates for senior-level and executive positions within an organization. This specialized hiring process is typically managed by executive search firms or internal recruitment teams with expertise in sourcing leaders such as CEOs, CFOs, and other top management roles. It involves a thorough understanding of an organization's needs, discreet candidate evaluation, and often includes passive candidates who are not actively seeking new opportunities. The goal is to find leaders who can drive organizational success and fit the company culture.

Job description

About us

One team. Global challenges. Infinite opportunities. At Viasat, we’re on a mission to deliver connections with the capacity to change the world. For more than 35 years, Viasat has helped shape how consumers, businesses, governments and militaries around the globe communicate. We’re looking for people who think big, act fearlessly, and create an inclusive environment that drives positive impact to join our team.

What you'll do

We're excited to announce a dynamic opportunity for a temporary Executive Recruiter to join our growing team! This role offers the flexibility and convenience of fully remote work, allowing you to contribute from anywhere in the United States.

Sitting within our Executive Talent function, this role reports directly to the Head of Executive Recruitment and operates under the broader umbrella led by the Executive Talent Leader. In this role, you will support the execution of full-lifecycle recruitment for VP and C-suite level leadership positions across the enterprise. You will help drive process, coordination, and consistency across searches. You will act as a champion of Viasat’s culture, delivering a seamless, "white-glove" experience for both candidates and senior internal stakeholders while maintaining the utmost confidentiality.

The day-to-day
  • High-Touch Candidate & Stakeholder Management: Support an exceptional, concierge-level experience for executive candidates from first contact through onboarding. Serve as a trusted advisor to senior business leaders and People & Culture (P&C) partners, guiding them through the executive search lifecycle.
  • Search Set Up & Foundational Alignment: Partner with the Head of Executive Recruiting to draft and refine job descriptions, organize role requirements, and translate intake discussions into clear competencies and structured evaluation criteria.
  • Direct Sourcing & Pipeline Building: Deliver mapping of target markets, identifying talent, and supporting the development of diverse pipelines for leadership roles and future ready talent needs.
  • Assess Talent with Precision: Review and calibrate candidate slates, conduct structured interviews, and evaluate leadership talent against defined criteria—not just “fit,” but true role alignment.
  • Agency & Search Firm Engagement: Support coordination with external executive search firms, including tracking candidate submissions, maintaining alignment on process and timelines, and ensuring a seamless experience across internal and external workstreams.
  • Data-Driven Evaluation: Leverage market intelligence, data, reporting, and talent insights to support search progress, assess talent and availability and inform discussions.
  • Values Alignment: Ensure that Viasat’s core values, cultural attributes, and commitment to inclusion are deeply embedded into the recruitment, sourcing, and evaluation processes.
  • Process Governance: Maintain strong organization, rigorous governance and consistency, confidentiality, and discretion across all executive search data, documentation, and candidate profiles. Drive ATS excellence, pipeline hygiene, and feedback rigor. Ensure every candidate interaction, data point, and decision is captured cleanly and consistently.
  • AI & Process Improvement: Support the integration of AI tools and workflows into recruiting processes to improve efficiency, consistency, and overall execution.

What you'll need
  • Executive Recruiting Expertise: Proven track record of successfully managing full-lifecycle executive or senior leadership recruitment within a corporate environment or an executive search firm.
  • Education: Bachelors degree or higher in business or a related field
  • White-Glove Executive Presence: Exceptional communication, stakeholder management, and relationship-building skills, with the credibility to influence and engage with C-suite and executive-level leadership.
  • Advanced Sourcing Strategies: Expertise in direct sourcing, talent mapping, and leveraging sophisticated networking techniques to engage passive, high-profile talent.
  • Vendor Management: Strong experience managing, partnering with, and holding external executive search partners/agencies.
  • Discretion & Judgment: Absolute commitment to confidentiality and high emotional intelligence when dealing with sensitive organizational changes and high-level negotiations.
  • Business Acumen: Strong organizational and business acumen to quickly grasp Viasat's strategic priorities and accurately align talent selection with business needs.
  • Recruiting Tools Fluency: Familiarity with modern recruiting tools, including advanced ATS platforms, sourcing tools, and emerging AI-enabled solutions.

What will help you on the job
  • Prior experience recruiting within a global technology, aerospace, or telecommunications environment.
  • Experience managing international executive or senior leadership searches
