What is an executive recruiter?

As an executive recruiter, your primary responsibilities are to search for and find qualified candidates to fill executive-level job vacancies for your clients. Your recruiting may focus on a particular industry, or you may recruit for executive positions in all industries. Your job duties include reviewing resumes, reaching out to potential candidates, meeting with clients to understand their needs, and participating in the hiring process from setting up the initial interview to negotiating salary.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an executive recruiter, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Executive Recruiter, you need expertise in talent sourcing, candidate assessment, and a solid understanding of executive-level functions, often supported by a degree in human resources or business. Familiarity with applicant tracking systems (ATS), advanced search tools like LinkedIn Recruiter, and relevant recruitment certifications are commonly required. Strong interpersonal skills, negotiation abilities, and a high degree of professionalism distinguish top performers in this role. These skills and qualities are crucial for building trust with clients and candidates, ensuring successful executive placements, and maintaining a competitive edge in the talent market.

What is an executive recruiter?

An Executive Recruiter is a professional who specializes in finding and attracting highly qualified candidates for senior-level and executive positions within organizations. They work closely with companies to understand their leadership needs and often manage the entire recruitment process, from sourcing candidates to conducting interviews and negotiating offers. Executive Recruiters may work for recruiting agencies or in-house for large corporations, and they play a crucial role in helping organizations secure top talent for critical roles.

What are some common challenges faced by executive recruiters when sourcing top-level talent, and how can these be addressed?

Executive Recruiters often encounter challenges such as a limited pool of qualified candidates, confidentiality concerns, and prolonged search timelines. To address these, recruiters typically leverage extensive professional networks, utilize advanced sourcing tools, and maintain strong relationships with both clients and candidates. Effective communication and a keen understanding of client needs also help in navigating sensitive negotiations and ensuring a successful placement.

Job description

Help us build the future of manufacturing.

Hengst of North America is looking for a relationship-driven Technical Recruiter to join our Human Resources team. In this role, you'll partner with leaders across the business to identify, attract, and hire top talent for our manufacturing and corporate operations throughout the United States.

This isn't a high-volume recruiting role. We're looking for someone who enjoys learning the business, understanding technical roles, and becoming a trusted advisor to hiring managers. If you're curious, proactive, and energized by finding great talent for challenging manufacturing and engineering positions, we'd love to hear from you.

What You'll Do

  • Lead full-cycle recruiting for hourly, professional, and leadership positions.
  • Partner with hiring managers to understand business needs and develop effective recruiting strategies.
  • Source active and passive candidates using LinkedIn Recruiter, Indeed, networking, referrals, and other creative sourcing methods.
  • Recruit for a variety of functions including manufacturing, engineering, operations, maintenance, supply chain, sales, finance, and corporate positions.
  • Screen candidates, coordinate interviews, and guide the hiring process from sourcing through offer.
  • Build talent pipelines for critical and hard-to-fill technical positions.
  • Represent Hengst at career fairs, networking events, and university recruiting initiatives.
  • Track recruiting metrics and continuously improve the candidate and hiring manager experience.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field.
  • Experience recruiting for manufacturing, engineering, industrial, operations, or other technical roles.
  • Experience supporting both hourly production recruiting and salaried professional hiring.
  • Strong sourcing skills with experience using LinkedIn Recruiter and applicant tracking systems.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and relationship-building skills.
  • Someone who is naturally curious and excited to learn our products, manufacturing processes, and business so they can effectively identify great talent.

Why Join Hengst?

At Hengst, you'll have the opportunity to make a direct impact on a growing manufacturing organization with operations in the US, Canada, and Mexico. You'll work closely with business leaders, influence hiring strategy, and help build the teams that drive our success.

This is a hybrid position based in Durham, NC, with occasional travel (approximately 10โ€“20%) to our facilities and recruiting events in North Carolina, South Carolina, and other locations as business needs require.

If you're ready to move beyond filling positions and become a true talent partner to the business, we'd love to hear from you.
