Job description

Engineering Technician - Entry Level - Non-Degreed - Conroe, TX

Applied Technical Services, LLC ("ATS" or the "Company") is a leading provider of critical testing, inspection, certification, and compliance services. The Company serves clients across a diverse set of large and stable end markets including manufacturing, power generation, aerospace, medical, and defense. ATS was founded in 1967 and is headquartered in Marietta, GA. Today the Company employs nearly 2,100 team members in over 95 locations across the United States.

Summary: Our consulting engineering office located in Conroe, TX is currently seeking an Engineering Technician to assist the Project Managers in the field with inspections, testing, and installations of Suspended Access and Fall Protection equipment on commercial buildings and industrial facilities. This section of our consulting engineering department also specializes in the inspections, installations and repairs of lightning protection systems.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities Include:

  • Assist engineering staff with the testing and installation of equipment
  • Assist engineering staff with performing load tests on equipment
  • Ability to work in a hands-on environment and at heights at times

Qualifications

Requirements Include:

  • General High School Diploma or equivalent. Degreed Engineers need not apply.
  • Be team oriented and have a positive attitude
  • Good amount of experience and knowledge with knowing how to use hand tools/power tools (Impact drill, wrenches, hammer drill, screw driver etc.)
  • Able to work at heights.
  • Strong oral and written communications skills with the ability to interact with all levels of customer representatives
  • Good organizational and project management skills
  • Ability and willingness to lift up to 50 lbs. and work near roof edges with proper fall protection
  • Strong safety awareness in a variety of construction settings

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Inspection and/or construction experience is a plus.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (i.e. Excel, Word, Outlook etc.)

Optional Qualifications:

  • Training/Knowledge on using a GPR (Ground Penetrating Radar) device.
