Job description

JOB SUMMARY: The EHS Technician I is responsible for providing support to programs related to health, safety, and environmental issues under the direction of EHS staff. The EHS Technician I will assist in the training of Indium Corporation staff while also maintaining compliance with all industry and regulatory programs and systems. The EHS Technician I is an entry-level role that is often supervised and directed.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (COMPETENCIES):

 Support and assist corporate EHS Engineers with their duties

 Support and help conduct applicable employee training as required under OSHA, DOT, and EPA regulations

 Support and help implement employee training in the operation and safety of factory equipment and record keeping

 Participate with employees on safety committees and teams as directed

 Assist with the handling and preparation of hazardous waste for disposal as specified under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA)

 Support and help implement corporate policy on the handling of waste material (hazardous/non-hazardous, recycling, and confidential data) throughout the facilities

 Conduct periodic safety-related inspections of equipment and facilities to ensure compliance with regulations including, but not limited to, first aid cabinets, fire extinguishers, eye wash stations, fork lift inspection records, etc.

 Attend off-site training as needed to comply with requirements of EHS-related regulatory agencies

 Comply with required reporting to regulatory agencies and insurance carriers

 Perform required environmental sampling such as, but not limited to, air sampling, personal air monitoring, and storm water sampling

 Attend training as needed or assigned

 Ability to work any shift, and overtime, as required to support global demand

 Providing own source of transportation for any local/day travel, including travel between facilities

 Perform other duties and special projects as assigned


REQUIREMENTS:

 Associate degree in Industrial Safety, Sustainability, Environmental, or any technology is preferred, or three years of work experience; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered

• Willing and able to attend off-site training to comply with requirements of EHS-related regulatory agencies

• Good oral and written English language skills

• Basic presentation skills

• Good record keeping skills

• General familiarity with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements and reporting (after our training and certification)

• Basic organizational, management, and computer (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) skills

• Ability to work independently and to collaborate with individuals and teams

• A valid NYS driver’s license and the willingness and ability to self-transport to and from various New York State facilities

• Ability to wear a respirator

• Ability to work during 2nd and 3rd shift hours to meet EHS program requirements

Monday-Friday

Office Hours: 8:00am - 5:00pm

The salary range indicated in this posting represents the minimum and maximum of the range for the position. The actual range will vary based upon factors including, but not limited to, prior experience, knowledge, skill and education as they relate to the position’s qualifications, and internal equity.

The posted salary range reflects just one component of our total rewards package. Other components include health, dental, and vision insurance, PTO, retirement plan, volunteer opportunities, paid holidays, overtime opportunities, and many more.

$20.00 per hour - $30.00 per hour

($41,500 - $62,500 annually)
