What is an EHS Safety professional?

An EHS Safety professional is responsible for ensuring that organizations comply with Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) regulations and standards. They develop, implement, and monitor policies and procedures to protect employees, the public, and the environment from workplace hazards. Their duties often include conducting risk assessments, leading safety training, investigating incidents, and maintaining compliance with local, state, and federal laws. EHS Safety professionals play a crucial role in fostering a safe and healthy work environment while minimizing the environmental impact of business operations.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an EHS Safety professional, and why are they important?

To thrive as an EHS Safety professional, you need a solid understanding of environmental and occupational health regulations, risk assessment, and safety management, often backed by a degree in safety, environmental science, or a related field.
