Job description

Client Overview:
Our client, a well-established organization committed to maintaining the highest standards of workplace safety, environmental compliance, and security, is looking to hire an Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist. The company fosters a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and employee well-being while ensuring compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements.
Salary/Hourly Rate:
$75k - $80k
Position Overview:
The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist is responsible for supporting and maintaining environmental, health, safety, and security programs across the facility. This role ensures compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other applicable regulations while promoting a proactive safety culture. The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist will assist in developing and implementing policies, conducting inspections and audits, investigating incidents, and driving continuous improvement initiatives related to workplace safety, environmental stewardship, and site security.
Responsibilities of the Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist:
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and company EHS standards and policies.
  • Conduct regular safety, environmental, and security inspections and audits.
  • Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining EHS programs and procedures.
  • Investigate workplace incidents, accidents, and near misses; identify root causes and recommend corrective actions.
  • Coordinate safety training programs and maintain training records.
  • Support emergency preparedness and response planning activities.
  • Manage environmental compliance programs, including waste management and regulatory reporting as required.
  • Track and maintain EHS metrics, documentation, and reporting requirements.
  • Manage and support facility security programs, including access control, visitor management, CCTV monitoring, C-TPAT compliance, security investigations, risk assessments, employee training, and maintenance of security policies and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance and asset protection.
Required Experience/Skills for the Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist:
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Safety, Industrial Safety, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Strong understanding of EPA regulations and environmental compliance standards.
  • Experience conducting safety audits, inspections, and incident investigations.
  • Knowledge of risk assessment and hazard recognition practices.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
Preferred Experience/Skills for the Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist:
  • An Associate Safety Professional (ASP) credential is a plus.
  • OSHA 30-Hour General Industry certification is a plus.
  • Experience supporting site security programs and emergency response initiatives.
  • Experience in manufacturing environments is preferred.
Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field is preferred.
