Position Overview
An Estimator has workplace experience, including exposure to production processes, construction/assembly knowledge, and familiarity with both raw and pre-fabricated materials.
This Estimator is tasked with pricing exercises that can overlap multiple lines of business as well as challenge the thinking process to solve technical and financial issues with the design. In addition, Estimators are expected to leverage their experience and knowledge to guide project team members toward cost-effective solutions.
Estimators will often collaborate with other Estimators to complete larger, more complex projects. An Estimator will have developed solid working relationships with Sales, Design, Production, and Pricing (Finance). They are expected to multi-task, prioritize their workload, and provide deliverables to both internal and external clients as per agreed-to expectations and timelines. They would be a self-starter.
Responsibilities
  • Minimum 2+ years of workplace Estimating experience.
  • Must exhibit creative problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to estimate wide range of exhibit industry services as offered by Spiro.
  • Ability to determine appropriate materials, and work with vendors and sub-contracted services providers.
  • Proven ability to determine production labor requirements with accuracy.
  • Ability to communicate and work closely with other Spiro departments, (Designers, Sales, Account Managers, Production personnel, Project Managers, Detailers, Pricing Analysts, Management)
  • Proficiency in every-day use of Spiro Estimating Tools and related software.
  • Working knowledge of financial components (operational costs, mark-ups, margins)
  • Ability to create descriptive, well-versed client-friendly pricing proposal documents.
  • Readily sees and offers effective material substitutions and alternative construction methods.
  • Provide background pricing data and vendor quotes and attend PTW meetings. Clearly download information to Project Managers, AMs, and other project team members.
  • Ability to work independently and estimate medium to large size projects without supervision and minimal/no guidance.
  • Knowledge of assembly requirements for pre-fabricated purchased structures such as tension fabric, flooring, and packaging solutions.

Requirements

  • Graduate of Technical School or College with construction-related focus preferred.
  • Construction, Project Management, or estimating experience.
  • Ability to read CAD drawings, renderings, and visualize 3-dimensionally.
  • Tradeshow experience preferred.
  • Creative problem-solving skills.
  • Basic familiarity with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Outlook, Word)
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Minimum 2+ years of workplace Estimating experience.
