Lead engineering excellence and drive the digital sales platform that shapes Spectrum’s customer experience. As Director, eCommerce Development, you’ll translate technical strategy into effective execution, manage senior talent, and ensure teams deliver high-quality solutions that advance business growth and customer satisfaction.


How You’ll Make an Impact 

  • Lead engineering delivery across multiple product pods, ensuring software is scalable and released reliably
  • Coach Senior Managers and Tech Leads, building strong leaders through feedback and accountability
  • Enforce engineering standards, including code review quality, testing, and release discipline
  • Resolve cross-team challenges such as dependencies, resource allocation, and environment issues, aligning efforts with Product and QA
  • Collaborate with the Senior Director to turn technical strategy into actionable plans
  • Integrate AI tools into engineering workflows to improve velocity and code quality
  • Influence hiring, team structure, and engineering practices, balancing strategic planning with hands-on coordination

Working Conditions 

  • Work in an office environment with occasional travel, plus the option to work from home one day each week through Spectrum’s Hybrid Work Policy

What You’ll Bring to Spectrum 

Required Qualifications 

Education 

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, related technical discipline, or equivalent experience

Experience 

  • 8+ years in software engineering with progressive leadership responsibility
  • 4+ years managing engineering teams, including other managers or senior tech leads
  • 3+ years owning engineering delivery across multiple product teams (15+ engineers)

Skills 

  • Ability to drive engineering standards and quality across teams
  • Experience working with cross-functional partners in product, design, architecture, and QA
  • Strong technical judgment for architecture decisions and risk assessment
  • Skilled at managing both full-time and contractor engineering talent
  • Proven success delivering large-scale consumer-facing web applications
  • Effective communication with business and technical audiences
  • Understanding of modern web architecture (Angular preferred), Node.js orchestration, CI/CD pipelines, performance engineering, observability, analytics instrumentation, testing strategies, cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred), accessibility standards, and security practices
  • Leadership, people management, talent development, delivery execution, cross-functional partnership, stakeholder communication, conflict resolution

  • Experience in cable, telecommunications, software or online services
  • Building high-traffic acquisition funnels, optimizing conversion and A/B testing
  • Telecom domain knowledge, agile metrics, design system governance, headless CMS, AI-assisted development, team scaling, SDLC process improvements
  • Experience leading eCommerce engineering in telecom or similar regulated industries
  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering
