House & Garden is looking for an experienced and Digital Director to help shape and lead the next phase of the brand's digital growth. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in evolving one of the world's leading interiors and lifestyle titles across web, social, newsletters, video and emerging platforms.

The successful candidate will have strong experience in digital publishing, editing and commissioning, alongside a deep understanding of audience development, SEO and platform storytelling. They will have a passion for houses, interiors, decoration, gardens and design, with a strong instinct for the stories, people and trends that resonate with the House & Garden audience.

Repointing into the Editor and working closely with the Director of Strategy and senior editorial leadership, the Digital Director will help develop and execute the digital vision for the brand while ensuring House & Garden's editorial authority, visual identity and tone of voice are maintained across all platforms.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
  • Work closely with the Editor, Director of Strategy and Audience Development to help shape and execute House & Garden's digital growth plans across web, social, newsletters and video and meet company set targets and KPIs.

  • Set the editorial direction and priorities for House & Garden's digital output ensuring content is engaging, visually distinctive and aligned with the House & Garden aesthetic and tone of voice.

  • Commission, edit, write and update digital-first stories across houses, interiors, decoration, gardens, design, lifestyle and trends.

  • Develop a strong pipeline of evergreen content designed to build long-term audience growth through search, discovery and reader loyalty.

  • Identify opportunities for recurring editorial franchises and seasonal packages.

  • Ensure all digital content is optimised for SEO, discoverability and audience engagement.

  • Use audience and performance data to inform commissioning decisions, publishing schedules and content priorities and identify new audience and revenue opportunities

  • Oversee digital publishing workflows and maintain high editorial and visual standards across all online output.

  • Working with the Managing Editor to oversee, track and allocate the department commissioning

  • Manage, mentor and develop the digital editorial team, fostering a collaborative, creative and ambitious working environment.

  • Support recruitment, freelance commissioning and team development where required.

  • Build relationships with designers, architects, stylists, writers, photographers and industry contacts to maintain House & Garden's authority within the interiors and design space.

Essential Skills & Requirements
  • Significant experience in digital editorial roles within publishing or media.

  • Strong editing, commissioning and writing experience.

  • Experience managing and developing editorial teams and freelancers.

  • Excellent understanding of digital publishing, audience growth and SEO best practice and evergreen strategy.
