Description for Entry Level Digital Electrical Design Engineer:

The Entry Level FPGA / Digital Electronics Engineer will support the design, development, testing, and troubleshooting of digital electronic systems. This is an entry-level opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career engineer interested in developing their skills in FPGA development, digital electronics, and PCB design.

The engineer will work alongside experienced engineering team members on digital electronics design projects and gain handsโ€‘on experience with FPGA/VHDL development, PCB design, circuit testing, and hardware troubleshooting.

Entry Level Digital Electrical Design Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Support the design and development of digital electronic systems and PCB-based products.
  • Assist with FPGA design and development, including VHDL programming, simulation, testing, and debugging.
  • Support PCB design activities, including schematic development, component selection, board layout, and design review.
  • Perform handsโ€‘on testing and troubleshooting of electronic circuits, PCBs, and digital hardware.
  • Utilize laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analyzers, and other electronic test equipment.
  • Assist senior engineers with hardware bringโ€‘up, verification, validation, and troubleshooting.
  • Participate in engineering design reviews and collaborate with electrical, software, mechanical, and manufacturing teams.
  • Prepare and maintain engineering documentation, test results, bills of materials (BOMs), and design documentation.

Entry Level Digital Electrical Design Engineer Qualifications:

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or a related technical field.
  • Experience with digital electronics through academic coursework, laboratory work, senior design/capstone projects, internships, coโ€‘ops, or professional experience.
  • Experience with PCB design and/or electronic circuit design through academic projects, internships, coโ€‘ops, or professional experience.
  • Understanding of fundamental digital electronics concepts, including digital logic, circuits, and electronic components.
  • Interest in developing skills in FPGA design and VHDL programming. Previous FPGA, VHDL, Verilog, or programmable logic experience through school or an internship is a plus, but not required.
  • Familiarity with electronic test and troubleshooting equipment is preferred.
  • Strong problemโ€‘solving skills with an interest in handsโ€‘on electronics design and development.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with experienced engineers and crossโ€‘functional technical teams.
