A privately held, growth-focused manufacturer is seeking a hands-on Engineering Manager to lead a small, high-performing team supporting complex, custom-engineered products used in demanding defense and industrial applications. This role reports directly to senior leadership and plays a key part in bridging engineering, production, and customer needs.


The ideal candidate is both technically strong and highly collaborative, with the ability to lead product development from concept through production while ensuring manufacturability, quality, and cost targets are met.


Key Focus Areas

  • Lead and develop a small engineering team in a fast-paced environment
  • Drive new product development from concept through launch
  • Partner with sales and customers on technical solutions and quoting support
  • Ensure designs are manufacturable, cost-effective, and high quality
  • Oversee FEA, GD&T, SolidWorks design, and prototype validation
  • Support machining, CNC, and production troubleshooting needs
  • Improve engineering processes and support continuous improvement initiatives
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with supply chain and vendors


Background Profile


  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering (MBA a plus)
  • 10–15 years in manufacturing engineering leadership
  • Strong machining/CNC and SolidWorks experience
  • Deep understanding of GD&T, quality systems, and NPD
  • FEA experience (static + dynamic) required
  • Subsea, defense, fiber optics, or cable systems experience a plus
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional engineering initiatives
