Construction Project Manager – Aviation (Denver International Airport)
Position Summary
The Construction Project Manager (PM) is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing construction projects at Denver International Airport (DEN), ensuring full compliance with aviation regulations, airport authority requirements, and contractual obligations. This role requires advanced expertise in managing complex stakeholder environments, including airport officials, regulatory agencies, and MWBE/DBE participation programs, while maintaining strict control over documentation, contracts, and project delivery timelines.
Key Responsibilities

Project Execution & Oversight
  •  Lead all phases of construction from preconstruction through closeout on active airport projects. 
  •  Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, and logistics plans in a highly regulated, operational airport environment. 
  •  Coordinate phasing plans to minimize disruption to ongoing airport operations. 
Airport Coordination & Stakeholder Management
  •  Serve as the primary liaison with Denver International Airport (DEN) officials, including aviation authorities, operations, security, and tenant stakeholders. 
  •  Navigate airport-specific permitting, badging, security access, and operational constraints. 
  •  Attend and lead OAC (Owner-Architect-Contractor) meetings and airport coordination meetings. 
Contract & Compliance Management
  •  Administer contracts in accordance with FAA guidelines, City of Denver requirements, and airport-specific standards. 
  •  Ensure all project documentation (submittals, RFIs, change orders, pay apps) is accurate, current, and audit-ready at all times
  •  Maintain strict adherence to MWBE/DBE participation requirements, including tracking commitments, utilization, and reporting. 
MWBE/DBE & Vendor Coordination
  •  Identify, onboard, and manage MWBE/DBE subcontractors and vendors in compliance with project goals. 
  •  Monitor participation percentages and ensure documentation meets city and airport reporting standards. 
  •  Collaborate with compliance officers to ensure continuous adherence throughout the project lifecycle. 
Documentation & Controls
  •  Oversee all project documentation systems (Procore, Primavera, etc.) to ensure real-time accuracy. 
  •  Maintain logs for RFIs, submittals, change orders, and compliance documentation. 
  •  Ensure all deliverables meet contractual and regulatory requirements, including FAA and DEN standards. 
Risk Management & Safety
  •  Identify and mitigate risks specific to aviation construction (phasing, security, operational disruptions). 
  •  Enforce strict adherence to safety protocols, including airport-specific safety and security procedures. 
  •  Coordinate with airport safety teams and regulatory inspectors. 
Qualifications
Required
  •  Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field. 
  •  7+ years of construction project management experience, with direct aviation/airport project experience strongly preferred
  •  Proven experience working with airport authorities or aviation clients
  •  Strong understanding of public contracting, FAA regulations, and municipal compliance requirements
Technical Skills
  •  Proficiency in project management platforms (Procore, Primavera P6, Bluebeam, etc.). 
  •  Strong knowledge of contract administration, cost control, and scheduling. 
  •  Experience managing MWBE/DBE compliance and reporting requirements
Core Competencies
  •  High attention to detail in documentation and compliance. 
  •  Ability to operate effectively in a high-security, continuously operating environment
  •  Strong communication skills for interfacing with government agencies, airport officials, and diverse subcontractor teams. 
  •  Proactive problem-solving and risk mitigation mindset. 
Preferred Qualifications
  •  Experience on aviation/city projects
  •  Familiarity with City and County of Denver procurement and compliance systems
  •  PMP certification or equivalent. 
  •  OSHA 30 certification.
